I think it will be fine . It looks to be more of a wide scratch ,and not a deep gouge.
Those knuckles just dont want to let loose the bottom one on the passenger side didn't want to break loose from the knuckle yet the top one was loose . We took a 4 foot Pry bar and after hitting the knuckle till I started to get scared I had the idea to stand on the bar ( 205 pounds of me ) and had my uncle hit upwards on the ball joint bolt itself . That is what actually got it to let loose.
Of all the jobs I have done to the JT knuckles rank #1 as the worst #2 E-brakes, #3 sparkplugs . Putting an entire lift on was the easiest thing 😂😂 .

Your bolt 12 point 13mm for the hub assembly you probably should replace that . If you can't get it loose cut the head off. The threads are in the hub assembly. Then when you put new hub in add new bolt.
I agree with those horrible rankings. I’d put the motor mount at #2, adding a position, putting suspension stuff at 4.

I do wish it was a scratch but it's at least 1/8" deep at it's deepest point. Just enough to make me concerned.




I had to tap my socket on there (two of the three bolts) to remove/reinstall the unit bearing to get the inner shaft out before driving out of the trail.
Where’s the gouge again?

Plastic OH MY lordy they went crazy with that crap didn't they .
Better that than the cast cylinders that give out every few years - they rot and pit inside because no one flushes clutch systems and puts in clean fluid.

I wonder if the Jeep cylinders will fit my car...............

Cast cylinders just don't seem to last.

And you probably know 36mm has no imperical measurement equivalent.
That's why people freak out on the FB pages - OMG, how can I get that nut loose? I don't have any socket that fits it!
And people with those sockets treat them like gold

So adjacent the top of the lower ball joint? Original ball joint? I’m not close to it, but I’d press the joint out, clean up the top of the c with a flap wheel so you can smooth it without removing much metal. Don’t touch the bore where the ball joint presses in. I’d press a new joint in and I think you’ll be just fine. Beauty marks.

We're thinking along the same lines. I thought I'd rough cut any risers with a round file, then 60 grit sand paper anything else. I hope that ball joint is still holding on for dear life like you'd expect it to on an undamaged "C".

Flap wheel with finer grit will make that fast and easy.

On the race car (I always default to that since that's the majority of my experience), we ground down the 3 bolts that held the steering rack on. The front bolt head had about 1/8th" left.

And the one time we ran a road course, the trans cooler suction line had a split in it. By lap 30 of 52, there was no oil in the transmission. We finished 3rd. Sent the transmission back to Jerico for repair (obvious, no?), they opened it up and said "Looks good!" and sent it back.

I’ve been on a huge garage organization mission for a couple weeks. Not done, but getting there. Finally know where lots of my stuff is. Not all, but most.
I have a 3-car garage with 11' ceilings. Over the 2-bay I have 4 overhead storage racks. The 3rd bay is split, 1/2 a home gym and other 1/2 my workbench (WIP) & small toys.

I put up an 8' strip of plywood to hang stuff on - my AMZN tool "hangers" are 16" wide, so the mounting holes are <16" :mad:. So I have 3 of those spaced out and room for heavier hooks for other things. My workbench needs "finishing" - cut some plywood for shelves to put my power tools on, and hangers for clamps and levels. All the little stuff that takes forever but makes a world of difference. Like swapping the direction my LED lights plug in, so now they plug into the same power strip, rather than 2 different outlets on opposite walls.

Cleared a spot for my ladders to hang on the wall, built a heavy duty shelf to put our freezer on and our old RTT, and put other storage bins underneath. The 2-car side has steps into the house; luckily they are all on one side of the garage, rather than smack-dab in the middle, wasting both sides. It's only 17' between the concrete steps and the garage door.

I finished priming the 3rd bay today, hopefully I can get paint on it this week. After handling the 3rd bay, I need to move inside and finish the basement. By spring I can prime the 2-car bays and get that looking better than taped drywall.
