And with 35s and other mods and the to off they struggle to maintain freeway speeds... without hills.
Mine didn't struggle at all, but it was a 3 speed with 4.56. The only struggle was passing gas stations. 😆

I guess it depends on your definition of freeway speed. With 4.56s and 35s that poor 4.0L would have been screaming 3500rpms at 80mph with no overdrive. That was the biggest problem with the 3 speed. You either geared it low enough to wheel it and it sucked on the freeway or you geared it high enough for the freeway and it sucked off road.

Jeep needs to bring back the 32RH. None of these sissy 8 speeds. Three speeds is all you need! 🤣🤣

Nahh.

Borrow the Power Glide from GM, which according to Google was used in DJ-5A postal Jeeps. So it makes total sense. Ya get two gears. Hi and low 🤣

75 MPH.

I didn't mind running 3k+ RPM on the highway for the trade off on the low end.

I have a TJ with the 4.0 on 35"s and 4.88 gears. It also has a 5 speed. At 80mph, its sitting at about 3K RPM in 5th gear.

The 5 speed has overdrive, the 3 speed didn't. 4.88s with the 3 speed would be 3750rpms at 80mph.

I saw the 35" tires and suspension package posted on the Jeep Facebook page recently, but it appears it's just another third party Jeep approved upfit package. I assume that the 35's here listed as a bailment option, are just that. A third party after the fact upfit.

Still decent to have at least an approved option for 35's.

I still don't know why everyone's in love with the idea of over paying for 35s from the dealer. They fit in rubicon, mojave, and willys models bone stock (may fit on sports but I don't own 1 so can't say and you can pick whatever tires you want... for far less.

With the XR package that gets you 35's on the Wrangler, it's more than just tires. You get lower gears, wider wheels, wider fender flares, different suspension (presumably just shocks/springs), and a few other accessories, all for $4,495. Can you get tires, wheels, spacer lift, and re-gear aftermarket for this much?

No, I don't think so, but the real question is: does it cost Jeep that much more to put all that on at the factory? Absolutely not, but they're in the business of making money.

I'm sure someone is in the market for that option. Roll all of it up into the note and take it to the dealer if there is a problem.

I think an option like XR is great from the factory.

If I was buying a Wrangler, I'd order a Willys XR. No messing around on my end.
