I had a center hole drilled through a few transmission fill plugs. The hole is sized for the clear hose on the hand pump. This allows for easier pumping without needing to hold the hose end.

I've got three vehicles that use the ZF transmission, so I've gotten pretty good with the process. It makes it easy if you measure what comes out. So, if 6 quarts come out, then you know 6 quarts goes back in. I added the PPE pan to my 2015 and 2020 Ram, which makes the drain and fill that much easier. I'll eventually do the same for the Gladiator.

You draining like that so that you dont have a mess ? Then dropping pan and changing filter ? Then replacing the pan with new filter and then adding back same amount you drain out ?

I change the transmission fluid approximately every 50,000 miles. The first time (50,000 miles), I'll remove the factory pan and replace with the PPE pan. The next time (100,000 miles), I'll just pull the magnetic drain plug and fill. At 150,000 miles, I'll pull the plug, drop the pan, and replace the filter.

The Max Duty is a good oil, I just don't know if it's better than Amsoil AFL for the Gen 3. We know that the Amsoil AFL outperforms Amsoil FS on the Gen 3 EcoDiesel plus the AFL is a lower SAPS oil. We've seen dozens of UOA results and AFL has the lowest wear metals and holds viscosity better than Amsoil FS.
Sorry to be useless but do you have a link to the specific Amsoil AFL oil?

When I search, I end up finding a few different results.

The only reason Stellantis moved away from the Gen 2 spec to the Gen 3 spec was due to deposits forming in the turbo. So, I would like to see pics of the inside of your turbo, please. ;)

These are the pics that came off a test mule, and why Stellantis reversed course on the spec.

I will see what I can do.

@biodiesel
Which of these kits should I order or do you suggest something different?
I buy the UPS Pre-Paid (KIT02-EA). Since I'm a little OCD, I prefer to pull samples through the dipstick tube. The pump is just a cleaner way to pull samples from coolant, oil, transmission, differential, etc. Here's the link to the pump: oil analysis pump - AMSOIL

Hey, everyone. I was able to get more clarification on the MS-12991 spec. An engineer for Stellantis said that deposits can form on the outlet pipe of the turbo charger. This happens due to higher turbo charger compressor temperatures on the gen 3 engine. According to the engineer, the 13% volatility CK oils aren’t designed to operate at the higher temperature range we see in the Gen 3 EcoDiesel. In other words, the Gen 3 spec oil is backwards compatible and can be run in the Gen 2, but the Gen 2 spec oil can't be run in the Gen 3.

I'm guessing that some Gen 2 spec oils are suitable for the Gen 3, but we just don't know for sure how those oils will perform in the Gen 3. There's something about the lower volatility A3/B4 oils that protects at the higher operating temps.

Does that change your oil recommendation for a gen 3 at all?

Last time I asked, you had recommended this:
"AMSOIL 5W-40 MS 100% Synthetic European Motor Oil"

I question amsoil as no stores sell it
It’s a pyramid scheme, or as they like to call it a MLM. I guess someone is slacking in your area and needs to build a pyramid, er more levels there. It’s a good product, but that itself steers me away from it.

lol someone needs to tell them that pyramids are built with more than 1 block before they go bankrupt, if that's the business model.
