The service guy at the dealer yesterday told me the computer can tell what viscosity is in the engine.
Proving once again the automotive service industry can spin virtually anything in order to scam a buck. Cheezis K Reist!

My 2024 Gladiator only has 9K miles, and I have used Valvoline Full Synthetic at 3200k and 7200k.
The reason I stick by Valvoline is because I have used it in my 2001 Ford Ranger since it was new. At 355,000 The timing chains were starting to make noise, so I switched to 10W40 Quaker State Conventional and use a 4 to 1 mix with Lucas Oil Heavy Duty Oil treatment. I am now at 403,000 and it still runs like a sewing machine. I miss using Valvoline in my Ranger, but when they converted to Blend or Synthetic only, my engine needed a thicker oil to keep going. But going 355,000 miles before having to change over to the thick stuff is nothing to complain about.

Not high mileage yet. But I'm running 5w40 and it really shined the last 2 weeks in Maine when the average temp was like 16*. Smooth and quiet start ups.

First oil change coming on my new to me Gladiator @50k miles. What brand do you swear by? Im eyeing Amsoil SS 0w 20. I’m under extended powertrain warranty to 2028 So I don’t want to mess around. I want to see real world recs backed by the mileage proof.
yes I have been diagnosed With Oil Derangement Syndrome
That’s what I use. Nothing better IMO

Take your pick. Many of the obvious suspects are shown in the table below. Super Tech is on the list to show that it doesn't comply with MS-6395.

- Motor Oil & Oil Filter Service Intervals
- High Mileage Motor Oil (75,000+ miles)
- Motor Oil Compliance Funnel (using Mobil 1 Engine Oils Product Guide Sheet)
- More info on Pennzoil Ultra Platinum

API is "recommended " not "required" and API locks in that specific formulation of oil whichever it may be . Follower the Pennzoil UP link , so ridiculous that it is not recommended for off-road use 😂😂 surely people arent putting that crap in Jeeps.
If you are a oil manufacturer such as Redline or Amsoil that does not have API on a certian type of oil you sell. Yet all the oils of that caliber are basically derived from one of 4 places. Doesn't it basically stand to reason that they are leaving it opened for better formulations for customers in the future . As much as I am a believer in AO in my motors I know Jeepers who swear by Redline in every single mechanical component on the Jeep. Trans, axles, Transfer case ,diffs. Etc..
I was in a bind a little while back and used valvoline gear oil in my diffs seems to be doing well.

There is language in the Warranty Booklet that they will not cover damage caused by use of fluids other than those recommended in the owners manual.

Oh I am sure they probably do say that , but that really only applies to 60thousand for Gas and 100 thousand for diesel. After that your on your own.
What most of us know is past history of performance of certian "non-API " oils which dont meet Mopar recommendations but meet the Spec MS-6395 .

I get the gist of what you are putting out. Things like "recommended, meets, suitable for" and so forth are bit different that oils that have actually gone through and obtained a proper certification/licensing from MOPAR that carry the MS-6395 spec. The former is self certifying language that oil companies put out there that have not gone through the proper certification/licensing.

MS-6395 is not a high bar technical wise and is more of a time consuming process that involves two years of measured fleet taxi use that many oil companies just do not bother with.

Also to pick the fly shit out of the pepper, MS-6395 spec requires that the oil hold the latest API certification. So technically an oil cannot be MS-6395 compliant if it is not holding a current API certification.

That makes perfect sense . In essence us guys who have or are using boutique oils have went rogue and stepped out in a limb.
I guess getting over 100k is doing well then right ? Or is it really hard to reach 100k or 150k in the 3.6L or 3.0 diesel with regular maintenance 🤔.
