Additive packages in oil will only stay mixed in the oil for about 5yrs. After than they tend to sink to the bottom of the jug/quart
With the mileage I put on it I have enough clearance oil for about three years. It was hard to pass up when it was 16.99 for a 5qt. jug.

Fair warning, guys, that 710 stuff is expensive. It's like blessed by the Abu Dhabi sheik himself.

You know that expensive coffee that's made from cat turd beans? This stuff is like that.
:like:

I'm off to make my own filtered blinker fluid.

I have 234k miles on my 2020 Sport.

I run Liqui Moly 0W-20 with a change every 4k miles, I also replace the filter every 4k miles with a K&N HP-7026. This has been the routine since the warranty expired.

Even with that routine I still got the dreaded 3.6 tick at 233k miles.

Holy Crapola that's fantastic 👏 I dint know how your keeping it down like that. But I know you did that big Northern trip remember you talking about that awhile back in the fall, See any moose or Bear ? Was it sight seeing only or did ya hit a trail ?
Haha, I work mostly from home so the majority of my mileage is road trips from MD to ME or MD to NC and everyplace in-between.

Only thing I saw on this last trip was snow and turkeys at my dad's house.

Quick stop in Portland and the other was the whiteout conditions on NYE day from CT up to MA........100 miles of not seeing the road

I would just comment I would be happy with the "dreaded 3.6 tick" at 233k miles.

If I ever had a vehicle (non-diesel) that had 233k miles on it I would consider it great.

Yep, I just did a full rebuild on both sides and it's back to sounding smooth. It's ready for our 9k mile Arctic Ocean trip this July.
What was the cause of failure?

Flashback to 1978. Sitting in class, friend shows me the fancy new calculator that he got for Christmas.

First thing he typed into it:

1768848130388-w0.webp
That brings back memories. There was an oil-related spiel that went along with that where you entered some numbers and multiplied by 5. Something about arabs.

I've already got the wife on board for the hemi swap once it's past 100k. Kinda hope it doesn't go another 130k after that...

did y'all know that the oil life meter goes by how many hours the engine runs not.by the mileage you put on...I know this because I sit and idle the engine alot....which probably isn't good for it...but when I do this it knocks the oil life meter down to about 3k miles for an oil chamge...instead of the odometer reading...

I think that's good, isn't it? An engine that is idling or crawling through traffic at 5 mph is still being worn and contaminating the oil, ever so slightly, every hour it is operating. Think of aircraft engines. The TBO (time before overhaul) and most other maintenance procedures are hour related. It makes little difference how far the plane flew, but the hours the engine has been operating.

A drive from St. Louis to KC is about 250 miles and 3 1/2 hours straight across I-70. Drive in New York City, Boston or any other city and accumulate 250 miles and the engine may run a week to do that.

So I would not minimize the effect of time on the engine. Even my marine engine (300hp Suzuki) gets its service (every 100 hours) based on hours, not on distance.
