Company isn't making so much money now, delaying launches, when the product is currently selling and not up against a regulatory wall, is a good cost saving measure.
This seems counter-intuitive, dropping unprofitable programs & delaying new rollouts while current product is selling sounds like they should be making money now? Lot of ground to make up from the great ‘EV experiment’ tho.

I'll tell you something I learned today that isn't documented yet.

A ton of Stellantis programs are being extended for years and years, rather than replaced or refreshed.

WL is the big one that dropped today.

I always sort of enjoyed the long runs that FCA/Stellantis/whoever they were had for various vehicles.

The Durango for example. The current body style has been around with just some refreshments for an eternity it seems like. I told the ole lady we should get her one when she's ready to upgrade because it checks all the boxes (simple engine, rear wheel drive, third row, comfortable), it's been well tested, and because its so old it shouldn't hold value for shit and we can probably get a good deal on a lightly used one 🤣

As per usual, everyone is going off the same media "sources" and no one actually goes to the source material. Everyone reads the headline and never the story.

If anyone actually asks AI "Did the Jeep CEO specifically say that the Jeep Gladiator is getting a v8?" you will get a very different answer than all the mouth breathers clamoring for clicks and a share of YT ad revenue. These guys are almost as bad as the Armed Scholar toolshed.

It was heavily implied, but nothing was specifically stated, as intended. It's a cheap market research tool to gauge interest, and keeps people looking at the JT.

But that media call was in August, and there has been no follow-up, no additional details, nothing at SEMA, no teasers. Nothing related to the V8. Just a bunch of crappy sticker packs.

Y'all look good seasoned with some lemon and served with some fried taters. :CWL:

I agree all true and very discouraging.
But I am still holding out some minimal hope for 2027 model to get a V8 preferably the 392.

2026 model year seems to be done deal no V8.

The AMW 89K 392 deal seems somewhat interesting.

I'd shite a brick if the final Gladiator Convoy Drop was a Hemi Gladiator to close out MY26 and the Convoy Ops Campaign!

Think of the JT sales increase and media buzz if Jeep announced a 345 option now. We'll have to wait for MY2027 it seems but it's such poor marketing planning by Jeep to wait.

The model is scheduled for a refresh in 28, maybe then they’ll send it? I’m liking 22 mpg out of my 3.0 w/37’s. I can’t imagine going down to 10-12 with these 392.

I’d love a hemi, but I do fondly remember 20mpg average over 120,000 miles with a Coyote in an F150 SuperCrew 4x4

I’ve had the pleasure of hitting the trails with a few 392 wranglers and they all average about 11/12 on the streets. All three of them carry 4 or more extra gallons in Jerry’s on the trails. That 392 drinks fuel! If they put out a 5.7 that averages 15 ish I’d consider it but it’s not for me. I travel a couple hundred miles to camping spots and weekend trails so gas would be a big chunk of my expenses. I’ll stick with my 16/17 v6 and take the 20 average on highway all day over the 392. If money isn’t anything to worry by all means get that v8 they sound amazing IMO.

Might be surprised what cost per mile would be if you really broke it down, fuel cost + filters + treatment + DEF.

Yup. But that sound.

A few weeks ago I did a pretty deep analysis (for me) on what a possible fuel difference the 5.7L would be over the 3.6L. Basically, the combined MPG wouldn't make much of a difference. The JT's aero numbers are so bad that a lot of the benefit in way of power:weight is used up by pushing air.

When you start to consider the fuel consumption at idle, it gets worse for the V8. I don't remember the specific numbers off the top of my head, but for 1 hour of idling, a 2.0L 4cyl burns ~.25gal, a V6 ~.5gal, and a V8 .8-1gal.

So you'd likely see better MPGs driving highway in a V8, but a lot of city (read: stop & go traffic) and/or trail work would eat into those gains rather quickly.
