I'll admit the blanket statement was overboard, but anyone who's ever been to the dmv knows full well government agencies breed mediocrity at best. Are there good government employees at every level? Of course. Are there also terrible ones? Yep. Do most of those agencies also have policies that protect the under performers? In my experience they do. They aren't all bad, but they are all inefficient at best.I see the point athletes and performers are paid based on performance and the demand it can create if you are unique and in demand you can benefit as you should.
I do not know how to word this i will try my best. To start off i worked for a few government agencies and when some one wanted to make political points or the news needed a story all us working people became targets for those that believed the rhetoric. The thing about Public sector workers nothing to be gained with throwing out rhetoric based analysis of others careers and what to do about rules you are not familiar what is the goal to piss people off or insult their ethics. Making out like you know others opinions and what concept of pay, promotions whatever they would not support again what for is to put people down, insult someone or jump on the bandwagon that those people are getting away with something and we need to stop it either way i hate to see the forums go that way.
Wish there were more LEO like you. Most of the younger (below 50) LEOs I've met for whatever reason are hot headed, ignorant, and on a power/ego trip 99% of their life. I understand not ALL are like this, as I've met a handful that were people I'd grab a beer with at a campfire. But the rest need to lose their qualified immunity before I could ever consider agreeing that THOSE LEOs deserve higher pay.I wasn't trying to start a thing. I was an LEO for nearly 10yrs. Bought darn near starved to death and nearly lost my life for what ? chump change!! In 10 yrs of service 2 guys I knew i didnt consider to be pros and lacked integrity the rest were Former Military and lived every day to ensure others freedom and safety.
I suppose it may be different in some areas .But that was my experience here.
Second that. Let's add top.level.scientists, physicists and engineers too. They're the ones coming up with new medicines, and maybe ways to save the human species. (And most important, new techno / advanced Jeep mods).Yeah gets paid to git a ball, society is completely upside down.
I personally feel LEO'S, EMS, Firefighters should be the highest paid people in the land of course people dont place bets on who will loose their life next sacrificing for society on a daily basis .
Well ,I aint a big medicine person, as I believe most medicine today is intended to manage the symptoms of a health problem not cure it.Second that. Do you even know 1 person who's had a good experience at a DMV in CA? I don't. They are perpetually under staffed, which is a management/government issue. There is also 0 sense of urgency or efficiency ever. Mediocrity is being nice. Conversely states like AZ that allow private DMV type businesses have proven in my experiences that the private sector will always do it better. Because they have to. No automatic raises, guaranteed jobs, or monopoly. Serve your customers politely and efficiently or go out of business. The DMV could use a whole bunch of that. I didn't evaluate any individuals, but mediocre systems that encourage mediocrity. That's not opinion it's facts. It's well documented how inefficient government processes are. Perfect example, got pulled over by a very angry cop who must have seen someone else as he was screaming about my reckless driving and 90+ mph. I was in the middle lane of a 5 lane freeway with the cruise control set at 75mph. No chance to discuss it as he comes rushing back with the speeding ticket because he's got an emergency call to get to. Not one to waste time going to court, I elect trial by written declaration. This requires that you pay the fine up front (so much for innocent until proven guilty). They of course deposit my check immediately. 3 weeks later I get a letter saying I was found not guilty, but no check or mention of my stolen money. A call and an hour plus on hold later I'm told it has to go through 3 accounting departments first and then a check will get mailed out. All in I was out my money for not committing a crime for 5 months, because government efficiency. Social security payments to 200+ year old individuals is another glaring example.Funny you just can not help yourself you wrote basically the same opinion, evaluated people you only encountered for a short period, threw in an insult toward every other government agency, employee you do not know, never met, doing work you never did, under conditions you never experienced and at places you never worked. You were condemning workers now the process is the issue those you see working have no influence in that, luckily most of it you can now do online and all those workers of course they would not run around nothing is an emergency it is just documentation and following established rules and regulations they just pace themselves because it is every day work to them. Which is literally what I said in the 1st part you quoted. There are some good workers and plenty of bad ones, but the government policies and practices keep the bad ones around far longer than you see in the private sector. The policies breed mediocrity. If you come to work day in and day out as one of the good ones, surrounded by bad ones, watching them keep their jobs and get the same raises you do, you'll get disillusioned and lean towards mediocrity too. When you watch paranoid cops shoot people they are trying to disarm for no reason in a simple traffic stop, or the acorn cop rolling around and shooting at a handcuffed and unarmed suspect in the back of his car, you have to admit that the idea that ALL LEOs deserve a raise is absurd. You are talking 200 year old on social security you got the propaganda part that is what comes from having some kids audit computer data without anyone that understands the data. It turned out those dates were what they put in the system when a birthdate was not available for record keeping if i remember right those were not people getting payments they were all dead people. They used the same audit method to can all the air traffic control trainees, the seasonal and probationary national parks workers and those in charge of nuclear storage at one point. Most of them they brought back when someone figured out you need workers to do the work. I worked with a lot of good hard working consciences people with government agencies of course there were bad ones that were hired and it took a while to get rid of them if they could fake it through the probation period it took longer than during probation.
With open differentials you could add cutting brakes to both rear axles to help a little or a pair of rear steering axles since you would have an unlimited budget to buy it.How do you get it around the hairpins on the mine trails?
Ahh sorry your state sucks so bad... lots of people exist on mediocrity those who seek more rise above the frey and move to different level of expertise , and different level of integrity. When people are paid at a mediocre rate to do an important job while people are paid millions to kick and throw and caught a ball then yes I say that you think they dont need a humongous raise is absurd. One generates billions and therefore gets paid millions, it's petty simple economics. I already give 50% of my income so no I don't support giving more to mediocre public servants period. If you're so scared you start rolling on the ground and shooting wildly towards an unarmed and handcuffed suspect because you hear an acorn fall you were overpaid at $1. The only saving grace is he was also a terrible shot so the guy didn't get hit. I didn't see "California DMV" I saw "DMV" when I read the post - and my experience with the DMV in my area has been excellent. Clean, bright buildings, friendly staff that move quickly, short wait times, use of technology to improve things - like scheduling appointments online ahead of time to spread out high-volume hours across the day.Do you even know 1 person who's had a good experience at a DMV in CA? Most all that i know of State DMVs, federal and state offices are all like doctors offices these days it seems like everywhere does it the same way, you can do most things on line, make an appointment if you have to go in person so you do not have to wait, Go in and do some things at a self service kiosk or go at the last minute wait in line check in and sit with the others that have no appointment.
