Do you know the gearing and how it was used city, highway or a combination. In town end up down there in the 12s with the six curious how a 2.0 with boost would do and if it would be setup to produce max numbers of HP or more towards torque like a truck or jeep needs.. The only 2.0 i have driven was with the hybrid system if they are the same it was pretty quick do not know how much was from the motor and how much the engine.
Probably stock gearing, she drives a lot of highway I know that fersure. I have a friend with the new Tacoma and he put 35s on it and barely gets 14 mpg. He has a rack and an aftermarket front metal bumper as well so I figured that also added to the poor mpg. He hates the fact that I get 16/17 with 37s, they are BFG ko2s so light and not a true 37. I’ve just always thought small engines even with boost just have terrible mpg when you start adding on weight like bigger tires/lifts and after market gear.

I can't verify this, but someone at Ford has access to their internal telemetrics - on paper the F-150 Ecoboost gets better MPG than the V8. However, internal numbers allegedly show zero difference in real-world MPG between the engines.
I read about this too.

I bought a 2022 Gladiator lightly used almost two years ago. The previous owner put on what I later found out were used 35 inch MTs. I average about 12-12.5.

About 5 months ago I replaced them (they were causing death wobble) with ~33 inch KO3s. These ride infinitely quieter and smoother. That said, I get about the same MPG. I am not a lead foot, but my commute to work is less than 2 miles daily and I do remote start my vehicle in the winter to warm it up. I would love to know how you all get above 15mpg average. Are you all driving downhill everywhere?
I average 16.7 currently and drive about 35 miles in total each day to work. About 10 minutes of it is on the highway doing 60/65. On my latest trip on the 395 to bishop from Orange County I got close to 21 average. Best I’ve ever seen and I was loaded up on gear for a week long trip. I’ll take that all day any day as most of my offroad spots are hours away. On the trail is a different story I don’t even really care about average mpg when I’m on dirt. To many variables.

You can't even think about comparing the two. Wow. And the standard 2.0 in a brick with crazy heavy 37s???
What would you expect?
Not to mention, the low mpg is often the driver. I bet I could do better with the same jeep
Yes they are totally different engines but in my experience every small engine with big tires has terrible Mpg. I’m not saying it’s gana be a terrible engine for the JT just that I personally would wait a couple years and see what real world numbers look like with people driving them on lifts and big tires. If it is about the same as the 3.6 I’d probably consider making the jump. I’d love more HP and torque but not at the cost of MPG.

35x12.50x20 with 3.73 gears and mine usually says about 18 on the dash. Driven easy and often at 60 mph off the highway on roads without stops. I think it’s just ideal conditions in my case.

Hanging out at 18.9 MPG in mine. Thats 75 miles of commute a day. Half if at about 55MPH, the other half at 75 MPH.

Idling in place to warm up and your short distance commute are what's killing your fuel mileage. Burning fuel while not moving by definition equates to zero miles per gallon while you're just sitting there at idle, and your most efficient use of fuel comes when you're at a steady state cruise at moderate speed in higher gears. If you minimise stationary idling time and spend more time cruising along in the 55-65mph range, you'll see better mileage.

When I was commuting 10 miles a day my average was closer to 16 MPG.

75 miles a day now, the Gladiator touched 19 MPG - as I mentioned before half at 55 MPH and the other half at 72-76 MPH.

So yep - that idle time and short distance is a killer.

My SS Camaro is up to 21.8 MPG when I take it with a lot of 80 MPH in there.

I aint worried at all about the price of gas . Or how bad my mileage is from idling . Or if I am short tripping.

But I will say for the short tripping on the way home I always get it up into the 4k territory just to limber it up a little bit.
