Gladiator trailer tow

I did some measuring and I can use the open tandem axle U-haul trailer if i set my bucket on the front rail. With my loader and box blade its suspiciously long for its size

Chris, if you look at the picture in post 28 this is what I did with the U-Haul Toy Hauler trailer (16' bed).
Total length of the tractor from front tip of the bucket to rear edge of the blade is 17' 10".
Position in this picture put the weight just right for a good tongue weight.

Nice. I looked at those too but they were wildly heavy for their size.

I really need to make my future father in law get his junk off his trailer. Its just right for moving my tractor and doesnt cost a rental fee

The tractor as sitting on the trailer is about 3,700 lbs. Your tractor is lighter. Should not be an issue.
But free use of a trailer means more beer fund. Maybe mention to your future father-in-law that you'd be willing to share the bounty of ice cold beer for the use of his trailer...

Yea mine and that trailer combined would come out to about 5800 pounds. Nice lil load. He doesnt drink but im sure he would find work for me, lol.

Dan from Oklahoma. I’ve owned jeeps since I was old enough to have any money. I’ve got a 65 and 68 cj5 and a 64 Cj3b. Main reason I joined, I’m thinking about a Gladiator Rubicon. My wife loves jeeping and we’ve done lots of the passes in and around Ouray, including Black Bear.
My question about the Gladiator, can you legitimately pull a 7000 lb travel trailer without just gutting it. Looking forward to you guys answers and opinions.

I have 2020 3.6 gladiator rubicon with 37’s and 5.13 gears and a 3in metal cloak lift. Bought it brand new. My new travel trailer is right at 6500lbs loaded but no water (starcraft 26rls) towed it through northern New Mexico mountains and into Colorado and Utah over some of those exact passes. Did it do it? Yes was it enjoyable… no anything over 8000ft elevation was very painful going up. At one point I was at 15 mph in 55mph and slowing and was getting very hot both the motor and transmission. Roughly 10500 ft above sea level. I pulled over and let it cool off for over an hour and babied it the rest of the way up. I was scared I was going to blow it up. (More puckering then doing devils gate or hamburger hill my fist time) Jeep seems to handle everything else just fine. It stops just fine. Weight distribution hitch and metal clock black shocks stop any sag… no sway to speak of with sway bar on… but I felt like Captain Kirk yelling at Scottie to give me more power and Scottie was saying I am giving her all she has got captain… I would not recommend it all if you are going to pull through elevation of over 8000 ft… it scared me so bad i had to do something different. buttom line just not enough power to do it… Investigated a supercharger, pro charger and a hemi swap. I was going to to do pro charger but I couldn’t see spending $6k on to put a procharger on an engine with over 100k in miles and no one could guarantee that it would give me enough power to be comfortable and a hemi swap was just not in the cards. but i ended up buying a new ram rho to pull my travel trailer going forward. still have my gladiator and love it but not my tow vehicle any more. My old travel trailer was just under 4500lbs and it would take it anywhere without much of a problem. I live in New Mexico at 5000 ft above sea level on daily basis.. You can PM with any questions. I am not on here as much as i used to be so it might take me a few days to get back to you.

oh and by the way my Gas milage sucked bad towing... normally around 13 mpg everyday with my set up... 7-8 mpg towing was good... 5mpg or less towing over 8000ft in elevation.

The Gladiator is huge turd when It comes to towing. I’m in Utah, so we’ve got tons of mountains and hills no mater where you go. My trailer is only 4500lbs and my Gladiator can barely tow in on flat ground let alone up a hill or canyon and gas mileage drop to about 8mpg. I get passed by semi trucks hauling triples drive up the canyons. I had to put airbags on the rear cause the sag is so bad is scary to drive without them. Granted I have a 2 1/2” lift with 35” tires, but it’s still pretty sad for a truck that claims 7000lbs towing capacity. For a trailer that heavy you’re gonna need a full size truck, no midsize can handle that any better than the Gladiator.

More than 5500 with any regularity, I'd be buying a bigger truck.

Amen to that statement!! We were towing 6,500 lbs with a V8 Grand Cherokee and even that wasn’t the most pleasant experience. We ended up buying a Dodge Ram. MUCH better and more relaxed towing experience!!
