I was wondering if anyone has had an issue with the area around your feet getting really hot all of sudden.. It has happened to me three times after I have driven for about 40 to 50 miles. It will feel like all of a sudden a vent or something has opened up and it will get hot around your feet/legs for a few seconds to about a minute, then it will go back to feeling normal. The air coming from the vents will still be cold. The AC will be set about 66* to 68* and it will be set to blow out the dash vents with the re-circulation button on. I had it in to the dealership and they drove it for awhile and they cannot tell me what the problem is because it would not do that for them. I have had other Jeeps(4) and did not have this problem with any of them.

Sounds like you have never met "Red."

I just searched for his posts and couldn't fine them and he may have deleted his profile?

Anyway, the exhausts run right underneath the floor pan on the driver side, it sounds like them getting extra hot may be your issue. Not sure if Jeep is planning to address this or what. Maybe another member can elaborate or recall more of what it could be or what Red said about it.

To answer your question: yes. There were many threads on this forum written by a guy named "Red" that specifically addressed the driver's footwell getting hot under foot. As @Riddler said, those may have been deleted now.

You are not alone in this experience.

Red was an older gentleman who wasn't very computer typing savy and when he posted it almost made you feel you were reading a mystery documentary. He complained that when he wore his special shoes because he had feet problems that it was basically baking his feet in the shoe from the heat and showed very red tender feet to us members as evidence. But from there he also started pushing the "death wobble lawsuit" and basically pushing everyone is his path about the heat issue and death wobble until I'm guessing he was banned by mods or just got fed up and left.

But if it were exhaust that wouldn’t explain it getting hot for 30-60 seconds then returning to normal.

There is a long thread on this on the JL forum. There is a vent that the ac system opens every so often to add fresh air to the cabin. I think the idea was if your on recirculating mode you don’t get fumes CO2 etc. to build up. However, it seems due to a design flaw, instead of the fresh air going into the a/c system then the cabin, the air just blows over the top of the cabin air filter directly into the vehicle. If you notice it happening they suggested cycling recirc off and on. That will close the vent (only to happen again in whatever minutes as designed). The other option seems to be disabling that vent door. If you do your stuck in recirc permanently which is not ideal for defog etc. Red’s issue was something different. The heat through the floor boards is constant and more drivers side. This outside air is only about 30 seconds at a time and more on the passenger side.

Maybe @jeepcare can look into this? It's very annoying especially on long trips.

Interesting. Now that you mention it, where is Red?
He probably left for good, after some of the harassment that he took I don't blame him. He had a legitimate issue that he brought to the forums in hopes that he wasn't the only one with the issue and some people were just plain assholes to him.

I didn't see much of that. I think this forum is pretty tame. Ever been over to the Tacoma forum? Those Toyo fan boys are the biggest A-holes!
