Does anyone know what heavy duty engine cooling is that you get with the max tow. I'm assuming and larger transmission cooler. But is there anything else?

I’m curious about this too. I left mine pretty basic to keep cost at a minimum and didn’t order the towing upgrade, but would consider adding individual things later...

Not much for info out there yet. This is from an older article

Jeep engineers gave the JT with the Max Trailer Tow group a larger fan than the one that comes on the standard truck, and which is also shared with the JL. The JL and base JT’s fans are 600 Watts according to Milo, and per the image below, the Max Trailer Tow Gladiator appears to come with an 850 Watt unit:

I know there's a 850w fan and a 240 amp alternator to power it, but I'd love to know if there are differences in the coolers mounted in the grille on tow package/Max Tow package/non-tow package trucks. Mine has at least 4 different coolers mounted up there. I assume one is trans, one A/C condenser, one radiator. What's the 4th one? Oil cooler?

Somebody should dig into this.

Does anyone know if it's the cooling that is restricting the towing capacity to under 8k? Or is it the frame? Braking?
I might be intersted in upgrading parts to get the rating up to 9k-10k

That's and incredible amount for a small truck. To tow that much you would likely need significant horsepower and torque increase along with larger brakes. Not to mention you should have a longer and wider wheel base. Next your trans is likely to be undersized for that load.

10k is basically twice the weight of a Gladiator towing this behind one is a poor idea on all accounts. I believe that a full-sized half ton maxes out around the 10-11k range with a much larger platform wheel base brakes and weight.

But, the Gladiator is already rated for almost 8,000 pounds. another 2k isn't all that much add'l weight.

And you have to figure that FCA made the weight rating lower than what it could actually tow for liability reasons.

Actually, 7,650 lbs is pushing the limits for a 5,000 lb truck. There was an entire article written about how Jeep engineers had their work cut out for them as they tried to figure out a way to surpass the competition and still meet SAE guidelines.

10,000 lbs. would be overkill. It's not about getting the load moving. It's about the laws of physics taking over in an emergency situation and causing the truck to suddenly become uncontrollable.

My window sticker just says heavy-duty engine cooling and 240 amp alternator come with the max tow. Is a bigger fan the only difference?
