I Had My First Accident. I'm sad.

I was backing into a spot and did not see that a metal spiral staircase was about to smash my roof. Any thoughts on how to proceed to get it repaired?

That hardtop is likely unfixable because the damage is in the seam. File a claim.

This is exactly why I’ve always bought the black hardtop and always had it line-x’d. I flopped my LJ completely onto its side on the rubicon trail 6 years ago and only broke 1 window. The line-x saved my top and also my flares

That's awesome!!! They could probably spray the inside a different color, like maybe saddle to match the saddle leather.

Anything is fixable, that doesn't look that bad. consider the cost of a claim vs a body shop fixing it. Too bad it wasn't black top, you could fix it yourself halfway decent.

That really doesn’t look that bad. The body repair is not that much. The cost is in the paint and the painter blending and matching.

You line-x the hard top? I have heard about line-x for truck beds but not hard tops. Can you explain please?

you have me rethinking the hothead headliners. That looks nice and I wouldn't have even thought of linex on the roof much less on the inside. What to do what to do

You line-x the hard top? I have heard about line-x for truck beds but not hard tops. Can you explain please?

LineX can be applied to nearly anything. I got sick of the deep gouges (from branches and rough handling during removal) in my hard top and fenders (rocks, road debris etc) on my first Jeep 20 years ago and I’ve done it to ever Jeep since then. This will be the first Jeep I won’t also be spraying the entire inside of the Jeep body as well.

I’d just get a good quality fiberglass repair kit like from Sikaflex or SEM and repair it yourself.

Then have a local LineX shop shoot the roof and front panels (black or white even).

Cheaper than your deductible or what a claim will do to your insurance rates.
