I like the idea of competition for Softopper and Bestop, but those wrinkles and the looseness of the top look awful
That’s true, I haven’t spent any time adjusting the canopy to make it more flat/solid looking, there seems to be lots of adjustment with the bar location and the windows fit front and rear to bring in any slack. I made some initial adjustments to the factory mounted locations to gain about an inch for my bed buddy/bike rack.

I'm guessing the price point is lower.

I’m going to leave these here. ARE prototype someone posted on Facebook. No idea when it will be available, but will be available with sliding side windows, windoors, roof racks, lighting etc according to the poster. MSRP around $1799 for the base unit

I agree! I may very well ditch my Softopper for one when the time comes. I had an ARE CX series on my Tacoma. I hated it because of dust intrusion. Dust would him up the handle opening mechanism and make it impossible to open or close. The back of this one looks much more sealed off though from these pictures. Time will tell

Debating doing a soft topper... have you had any luck adjusting it to get the wrinkles out? Any more pics? I like both but I have only seen one or two installs that looked mostly wrinkle free

I wish the rear of the shell would have been more vertical to mimic the line of the cab. I'm also interested to see how the shell blends the vertical sides of the cab to the slanted-to-the-top rear end.

New Fas-top, I’m digging the 2-1 option, don’t always need so much storage and makes it easy to put the bed back to use for those dang motorcycles. The hardware was also top notch, still working out the placement of the rails, but both the top and the cover use the same quick connect bracepoint, so no extra hardware to deal with.

Does the full top fold under the tonneau when not in use? IE you always have both and just put up the one you need? If so I may have to grab one, that's about ideal for me. One of the things I hate, even though they're fairly easy to install and remove, is having to store various tops and accessories when they're not installed.

Now that is about the best fitting and looking one of the bunch. Nice find,
Cheers
Not to shabby . . . but I don't think this cap IS Specific to the Gladiator . . . it may be for another 5 ft. bed truck with a more bowed rear Truck Cabin Frame . I say that because if you blow it up (I do this on a 55" TV) you can clearly see the Front Side View of the CAP is Bowed (top to bottom), not STRAIT like the Gladiator Hardtop ! They'll get it right eventually for the Gladiator, and hopefully SnugTop & Leer will see the benefit in getting on it too ? However, having that said, they ALL are still manufacturing the same way for decades - blown fiberglass with a lot of resin to hold it together . Same old window dressings . . . ! Think I'm gonna be a convert when the time comes - go Stainless Steel, or Aluminum - something that does NOT blend in, but rather "Sticks Out" Distinctively," saying, "Wait till they get a load of me"!

Absolutely! Although now I have to change the name of my rig to "Stink Bug" due to the shape and how far it sticks up... Like my wife said yesterday... "its no uglier than it was before the canopy"! Good thing I don't care too much about form. Function is all that matters and I think it will meet my needs just fine. I can see new license plates in my future "FUGLY". I might as well paint it with zebra stripes too...

We're getting there! I'd like to see if the roof matches the slots the factory hardtop has, too. Would be great if they included a drip rail or something to get kayak, bike, etc. racks up there. Not looking (nor expecting) to have the load capacity of a metal topper for items like roof top tents, but just some basic stuff would be great!

Agreed, yes it stores underneath the bed cover “undercover mode” in a velcro secured pouch

I spent a few minutes trying to smooth out the topper material itself for appearances to have a boxier look but it’s infinitely adjustable on each side with its velcro vs snaps found on other designs.

If it’s about full time appearances over function then probably not the best option. I don’t mind the look since it will be in “undercover” 90% of the time, in fact most of my gear is used often and has a “rugged” patina, par for the course.
