Curious, why do you like the aluminum over stainless steel? Aluminum is slightly lighter but not as strong, more welds, and harder to repair from what i've been told. I've been debating between RLD and Alu-Cab and curious if i'm missing something. Thanks.

My build's a bit a-typical so my needs are usually different than most. I live in Michigan and regularly drive to the Rockies, especially in the winter.
So the big benefits to me are that it's lighter so as to not murder my fuel economy too much, and that it won't rust despite all the insane amounts of salt I drive through in the winter. Or - if I drill through it or modify it in any way.

I've sent an email to inquire about the grade of stainless steel and there take on how rust proof this canopy is going to be. I'll post when I hear back.

I talked to fas-top today - they were unaware of the trail rail setup so I asked them to throw in some '16-up tacoma mounts instead of the under bed rail mounts as those worked well on my Thule rack. I'll create a new thread once it all comes in and I get it mounted.

seriously these designers....UGH. Why couldn't they have moved that top corner out more? And the bottom more.
On the camper you can see it sticks out more than the cab and it overhangs the plastic rail cap too!

Ugh I hate to say this, but RLD might have a ton more room inside. We'll have to get some measurements.
Look at RLD left side there's probably a few more inches PER SIDE of space here. And this is the Gen1 RLD....
Compared to ALU CAB where the window frame looks like its sitting right on the rail......Damn I wish i could see these two side by side in person......
Definately need measurements.
