I really wish somebody that knows for sure, exactly what is the difference on these steering boxes? Bigger sector shaft? More surface area on the bushings? Different ratio? The steel vs aluminum casting? The difference in driving/steering feel is so great to me that something had to be mechanically off or a design flaw. JEEP Cares do you know OR can you find out?

I’m 3.5 lift on 37s. Dealer didn’t care. It’s a tsb and they’ve seen a ton of steering complaints. There’s no reason for them to not want to do it. I could understand if there’s extra labor from the lift...which there’s not. My dealer didn’t care.
Which Dealer?

Since this is EHPS - could even be a pressure difference with other changes - perhaps a variable ratio gear?
Bigger shaft won't make any difference as there's no twist or flex there anyway under normal conditions. Aluminum won't give any more than steel will. In most cases a case aluminum will crack more easily if there's stress or fatigue while steel will flex (dependent on alloys of course).
These could possibly mount a bit differently helping to prevent FRAME flex we've seen in some videos. They do use 4 bolts the same size while the original has two that are smaller than the other two.
It would be very interesting to know the differences. Could be several differences.

Just called my dealer about this located in Richmond, Va. I said hey just calling about a TSB about replacing the steering box on my gladiator. He immediately said I’ll put the order in and let you know when the parts arrive.

I was shocked ... no questioning or anything! They already were well aware of the TSB.

I def had some wonder stock... with high psi thin tires and stock stabilizer. I would say with larger wider tires, lower psi and fox steering stabilizer it made it more tolerable. It’s def more noticeable pulling my travel trailer, Which is really why I’m pressing to get it done.

Did they give everyone a rental or loaner while it was in for the TSB? Doesn’t that come with the 2 year Jeep cares or something?

With the "if available" disclaimer, I'm sure. First thing I was told "sorry, we are all out of loaners, rentals are all out". So in my case, no.
Last time, for the tonneau cover, I was given a loaner and that was just for a day. I even told them "not necessary" but they did. This time, nothing available.

I noticed also that with a load in the back, like 5 60 pound bags of concrete and other stuff, the steering was really really light and wonky. It made me wonder about having 500 pounds of tongue weight, which would be even further back on the truck.

I visited the dealer for the diagnosis on 8/25. They just confirmed that my parts will be in on 8/31. So, 1 week from the time I visited the dealer.

It is odd that times are slower for some ... I can confirm that I am the first person at my dealer to mention this issue. They had never heard of it ... It is possible that other dealers who have a lot of affected clients are "rationed" or something like that ...

In any event, my dealer is in far southern Michigan. I hope to have mine repaired next week at this rate ... I hope others can get theirs as fast ...
Parts in !!! Mine gets replaced tomorrow morning ... Fingers crossed ...

I'm the first person at my dealer to mention this and first to get the work done ... I'm amazed honestly as there are lot of these gladiators in southern Michigan ...

I bet that many will go undone as people just aren't paying attention ...

Ill report back my result ... I can only hope mine ends up like all the other happy folks here ...

My dealer is doing it methodically, just got the re-flash done yesterday, and while it feels tighter, I am still seeing some wander... he even said that it probably would not fix the issue, but he needed to go through the steps. I have a trip this weekend, so will see how it is on the highway.

Are you in south Florida
No, I’m in Orlando. I haven’t been to my dealer yet, but they have never given me any issues with mods in the past.

Which dealership did you go to? I'm in west Michigan and looking to get this fix done as well.

yea I’m going to spring that on them when it’s in. Def is a hassle going that long with out the truck and then getting someone to take me there and back...

It’s that part of the dealership service or the fact that is was a Jeep issued replacement steering box?

Still waiting on bolts - probably Thursday, but the dealership was good about it and I did tell them that I spread the word on people willing to help out or have an open mind on these.
So here's a link for anyone in our area -

Soo Jeep wave says it’ll cover a same day rental... wonder if that applies to this?
