Just picked up a Gladiator Rubicon and am looking at the BFG K02 in 315/70r17, Load Range C. On my previous JK and Current Ram, I run the Nitto Ridge Grapplers in Load Range E. They are great tires, but they are definitely heavy and stiff. For the Gladiator I am looking for a good middle ground for the 70% daily driving in City vs 30% offroad it will see around Colorado and Utah. We also have a popup (Flagstaff ESP that is ~ 2700 lbs) which we will primarily pull with the Ram, but on the off chance we want to tow it with the Gladiator I would like to have tires that are able to support as well. Does anyone have any experience with this size and load range, and have any on and offroad feedback to provide? Thank you

I had these before going to the 37 ko2. I only used them on road, but did use the C rated KO2 33” on the jl off-road. They ran great both on and off road. I primarily went with the KO2s because they are light. I didn’tnotice any difference driving with the 315s on the gladiator.

Interested as well. I had 35x12.5/17 K02’s that lasted 60k miles and could’ve gone 10-15k more.
I wonder how the the 315/70/17 C rated performs compared to the E rated version. It’s priced very friendly.

I run the 315s (C-load from a Raptor) on my JKUS and trailer (have now purchased 7 of them).
Mounted on AEV Savegres - 17x8.5.
Love them. Great in the snow. Don't groove hunt as bad as other tires I've had. Quiet and smooth.
Highly recommend.

2 other quick thoughts on the C-load 315s...

I feel if I have a flat on some road trip, I will easily be able to find another exact tire for replacement since it is an OEM Ford Raptor tire = no money spent on a mismatched spare to get me home.

Rated at 2,535 pounds, it seems they will suit your trailering/load requirements.

Hope this helps,
Steve

Thank you Steve, that is very helpful. I hadn't even thought of your point of being on the road and needing to find a replacement. Thanks again for your feedback

They are definitely priced friendly. The Costco by me has them for just over $1k mounted!

Glad I could help.
Yep, the price is great for such a good tire - IMO.

This pic is my current spare (rotate every 5k-ish).
It has about 21,000 miles on it.
So far, so good on wear.

They wear well for being a real AT. The '06 H2's came with the KO originally, which I ran on my Ranger (actually before the KO, too). The KO2's are really that much better, and haven't been revised like the KM's (got burned on using my spare KM2 on my YJ).

The replacement availability is DEFINITELY a thing! The only one I've ever lost got cut on a sidewall going across a cattle guard that was basically broken - slat cut a GIANT slash. Slapped the spare on, had the replacement mounted and balanced 48 hours later.

Good handling and braking performance, the size works fine on the OEM 7.5" wheels. I buy my tires from my favorite 4x4 shop, and I get a good deal, but $1K for 5 of these tires mounted and balanced seems INSANELY low! Is that four 4 tires, maybe?

Thanks for the Feedback there Brian, yes I should have clarified the $1k was just for 4 tires, not including the Spare.

7.5" rim is too narrow for a 315 according to BFG, many places will not install a 315 on a 7.5" rim either. People do it but worth noting for liability and wear warranty reason.

My 4x4 shop didn't even blink at the tire/wheel combo, because they know it's not an issue.

The ONLY pushback I've ever gotten about a tire/wheel combo was exchanging the spare on my '98 Explorer. This was for the recall on the Firestone Wilderness AT's. I had already replaced those shitty tires with BFG AT KO's (which had just come out), 31x10.5's fit GREAT. The Firestones went in the shed. I finally got $100/tire turning in the Firestones at this dealer, and wanted a spare sized at 31x10.5.

I should be dead along, with my children, according to the tale of horror spun by the "tire manager" of the Firestone shop. It's not a factory approved tire size, the handling and braking will be dangerous, blah blah blah blah.

Interestingly, as that truck fell to the back of the pack and ran on Goodyears from WalMart, that giant chain with all of its corporate liability avoidance never gave me ANY flak about putting 31's on whatever wheels I bought them.

I have them on my JTR with no other suspension modifications. At this point I didn’t want to change anything on the truck. All my other Jeeps were lifted and usually opened up a can of worms in terms of vibrations, noises, etc. I wanted my brand new truck to remain smooth and quiet for awhile. 315’s seemed to be just the ticket for performance and the look I was wanting. No real noticeable difference in acceleration or handling.

Had 2 sets on my 12 Rubicon JKU, Started out with the 35x12.5's L/R E, after having to balance them every 2K, I contacted Discount tire and Michelin and opened a case for replacement, basically, the sidewalls were so stiff it would start hopping down the road, which made every tire wear differently,

Discount replaced them, tried to give me the same tires, baffling,

I went with the 315/70/, L/R C and never looked back, totally changed the jeep rode and drove, was like having a new vehicle,

This right now is why I'm having a problem buying replacement tire for the JT, do I go with a C or E, 315's or 35's or 37's not sure, I really have a hard time talking myself into a L/R E tire again, because the weight of a JT is nothing compared to a F250......
