Got stock Overland skinnies on still and most of my miles is highway going between 60-70 mph.

Anything over 70 mph and mileage comes crashing down.
I have been consistently getting an average of 25 mpg on I-75 and I-95. Probably 75% flat and 25% moderate hills or overpasses. 70 mph. Stock Overland with manual transmission. I think that correlates well with your results, since you have AT.

Damn... I really wanted to go with a manual. Loved that on my first couple of vehicles, but my wife had zero interest in learning how to drive a stick at this point in her life. ;-)

Wow! My Rubicon sucks gas. Just went to northern Michigan from northern Indiana. Highway 12.7 mpg at 70 mph. . Of course I have 37” tires on a lift. I usually get a little over 15 around town.

I'm guessing you have a lead foot. I only get high mileage by soft-pedaling it, so to speak.

Plus I have stock Overland tires (32") and 3.73 gears.

Interesting. I'm right around 6 weeks (though I'm only around 1k miles) and I can't get above 17.5. I did put rubicon take offs on and the first week I was hitting the gas and brakes pretty hard to get a feel for it.

I just got back from a road trip where I went over several mountain passes and mixed highway/freeway. Speed limit varied from anywhere between 65 and 75mph.

The Mojave was loaded with three people and a cooler full of snacks for the day along with an air compressor for airing up.

I started the day filling up the Jeep with 87 octane ethanol blend. We drove south over a couple of passes and stopped for a bio break. I went ahead and put fuel in at that stop.

Then we drove south some more and I put in more fuel at our next stop prior to hitting the trail. Aired down and picked up some straglers in a Toyota that wanted to ride with us on the trail so they wouldn't be alone. Spent 4 hours in 4 low. Ate a tasty lunch and hit the road home. After adding air and shifting back into 2 high.

Fueled up one more time on the way back just to be safe while we drained our bladders.

When the needle gets close to E, I put more fuel in. Then I start it up and drive. Driving makes me smile every time. MPG? Who the hell knows. SPG (smiles per gallon)? Lots and lots.

I could say something like - that's totally expected....... huge heavy tires, a lift forcing even more air under the rough underside, and presenting a higher sail to the wind.

Thanks! Enjoyed reading about it.

I have read and counted all of your comments up to this point. There seems to be a sharp line of those below 20mpg (more like 15-19) are Rubicons and Sport S with Max Trailer 4:10 gears and those above 20mpg (20-25) are mostly Overlandsers and those with 3:73 gears. Facts only ' )

This is why I use Fuelly and have it keep track of my fillups. My truck is sometimes over estimating and sometimes underestimating. I'm missing several fillups but my truck keeps me around 22mpg, not too far off what Fuelly says with the missing fuel stops. Still, better than what I was expecting. This thing gets better mileage than I thought. I even put my numbers in my signature now.

Makes sense. I give a slight nod to MT also. I know the EPA numbers are essentially the same, but I still think the manual gives the driver a little more control over fuel consumption.

Only next time we're going all the way to Tuktoyaktuk in the NWT.
That right there is a bucket list trip for me. I've driven my JK to Whitehouse, YK and from there to Skagway, AK, but to go to Tuk' would be a blast!

It has also been as far east as Moncton, NB...still annoyed that I didn't get the chance to go all the way to Halifax, NS. That was supposed to be this past summer's trip, but...well...you know. :(

Yeah, I'm in your boat brother. My stock Rubi has never seen the mpg these guys are getting. And I have done some serious traveling in mine. Virginia to Florida then to Ohio and back to Virginia. 19 at best, I think I was going down hill at that time. :CWL:
I don't really care about the gas mpg to be honest, half the time I forget to reset my trip meter to even account for it accurately.
Hey Len. What part of VA are you in? I'm in Norfolk and looking for advice on trustworthy dealership for service and upgrades (Mopar lift).
