We have a winner! Or is that whiner?

This!
The 392 doesn’t cost much more to build than a vanilla 5.7 Hemi. 392 cars use the same 8hp75, too. Only the Hellcat uses the 8hp90. If the driveline holds the torque from the ecodiesel , it’ll hold the 392. That’s not to say they won’t employ torque management in low range and even 1st gear.
Was I whining? Because I feel like a winner.

Sorry, left-over incomplete post from elsewhere. Wasn’t paying attention. Was in regards to someone wondering if it would get better or worse towing econ than the Pentastar.

I don't get the point of the 392 in a Gladiator...seems to me the 5.7L would be a much better fit for MOST people, plus cheaper. Much better power than the 3.6, probably the same or slightly better mileage. The 392 (6.4) has more power but is also heavier and much more thirsty.
^This

The 5.7 is the more appropriate engine for the Wrangler and Gladiator - unless you main goal is burnouts, then I guess the 392 is the better option ;)

Looks fantastic out of the gate. Fingers crossed this makes it into the gladiator at some point. That aside I don't get why they always go with 7.5inch wide wheels. This thing has the 2-inch lift out of the gate that rim width really narrows your tire options unless you just ignore recommended rim width.

Right on. A 5.7L in the Gladiator would cause me to have a "must go to dealer and trade in" moment - even if it was an automatic. The 392, too much.

I would prefer the 392 as more of a performance upgrade. The 5.7 I think would be more of a truck upgrade than a performance upgrade if that makes sense. The 392 in the Mojave would be absolutely bananas for what the Mojave is built to do

I’m excited about this. Hopefully it has a reasonable price point. If it’s around $60k then it wouldn’t be too bad and hopefully it makes its way to the JT. It would be hard to justify this purchase on a JL because I actually use my JTs truck bed from time to time.

I'd rather get a TRX at the obscene price point this is likely to be.

So when this was announced many months ago, I posed the question: Will this be a fully loaded low volume special edition model? Or will the 392 engine simply become another option like the Hurricane and EcoDiesel did?

Looks like (at least initially) the former is the case. Which means that pricing will be higher than expected. Do I think it'll be $90K? HELL NO. Do I think it'll be a substantial price increase over current loaded Rubicon? Yes.
