Axle width is the same, brakes are the same, axle ratio (4.10) is the same (MAX tow option in relation to Rubicon model) E-locker is only difference. Recommend using #3 & #4 switches, they are the 15 amp ones (#1 & #2 are 40 amp). Recommend changing rear first (rear more useful off road) then front, if not changing both at the same time. It will be a straight forward swap. No flash or programming necessary. Remember to turn off traction control when you use the lockers.

(Side note: JT's - MAX tow, overland, Rubicon have the same brakes. JL's -willy's & Rubicon have the big brakes.)

Good luck!

Please remember to post an after action report and a couple pic's when your done. It will help/assist other forum members.

Any questions please ask.
Thanks a lot for the suggestion on the aux switches...I'll do that. Definitely doing the rear first.

What type of connection is the locker? Just two wires to complete a circuit? Surprised it is that simple.

Mopar sells a locker harness. It goes to both axles and runs up under the hood. I'm not sure what the routing path is yet but it shouldn't be too hard to figure out. Mine hasn't arrived yet.

Very interested in this! In planning on putting 1-tons under my Rubicon. Instead of selling the stock axles, I’m debating on sticking them under the wife’s JLU Sahara.

My wife's JL is getting the front axle and I'll have to get ahold of a JLR rear for it. I'll sell the max tow rear. It mounts differently in the Gladiator and won't fit up under the JL.

Mopar has a wiring kit for the lockers, it will wire directly to the factory Aux switches or aftermarket switches. Considering you are going to a manual switch lock not sure that anything would be needed to reprogram unless you were going to wire in the factory Rubicon locker switch.

Hey Guys,
I'm looking at swapping out my max tow axles for rubicon axles. They are complete. I ordered the locker harness and already installed the auxiliary switch bank to actuate the lockers. Has anyone done this yet? What do I need to know? Is this a straight bolt on job? What issues will I have? Thanks for the help.
I am looking at doing the same install with my 80th anniversary. How did your swap go? Was it a straight bolt on?
