Right at 6,000 miles on mine. No issues with the diesel and runs perfect. Unfortunately, mine is being lemon lawed due to an unfixable and substantial water leak. Ordered another one just like it last week (diesel too). If the replacement Rubicon Ecodiesel engine is problem free like this one, I will keep past the warranty. I called around and found a good ecodiesel mechanic and he said as long as you do the maintenance by the book and use a good additive in the fuel, should be good to go.

Now that you have had your diesel for some time… are you still happy with your decision or do you regret the engine choice?

I know it was a new motor for MY20, but has anyone broken 50k, or even 100k on the new 3rd Gen EcoDiesel engine? Have you had any major issues with the engine/trans/emissions systems?

If you don’t like the diesel engine, which engine did/would you replace it with?
HELL NO-- LOVE IT, WAY BETTER THAN THE 3.6 from the last JK...

Just over 1,100 miles and not a single regret. Love the sound at idle and the turbo whine when accelerating. Fun to drive a lots of power.

I often see it stated that it will take x number of years to recoup the price difference. Personally, I didn't buy it for the gas mileage. To me, the smiles per mile more than compensate.

I went with a 7yr/75k warranty and if there are few issues when it runs out I will be keeping it indefinitely.

That 6k will get you a magnuson blower and raptor killing bragging rights
Not trying to argue but.........I Doubt you actually get it fully done for 6k, factory warranty toast, you have to run more expensive premium fuel and will get horrendous gas mileage, and I still doubt you actually out perform a stock diesel.

I have just over 9k. Stock 3.73 gears Fat bobs budget boost with 37x13.50 nitto exograpplers. I did have a DEF system problem but it seems the dealer was able to get it fixed. I have logged over 2k miles pulling several different trailers/boats.

Overall the ecodiesel is hands down the most powerful and efficient motor jeep has ever put in a wrangler type platform. Absolutely perfect match for what jeeps are meant to be and do......

Only complaints/derogatory thoughts are......
1. DEF sucks and DEF usage goes up significantly when you work this motor
2. Fuel mileage when pulling hard (5k lbs, head wind, 70-75 mph) isnt much better than gas (it's worth pointing out that a gas motor would have to turn 6k or more rpm to pull the same load and conditions, if you can force yourself to actually do it.......I've owned them both)

One other thing I'd like to point out is that I've run across diesel priced the same or less than 87 with ethanol many times, that combined with the fact I would routinely run a tank of premium and/or non-ethanol gas every few tanks........my average cost per gallon used is about even if not less.

If all goes to plan, I'll keep and do a full delete and tune once the warranty is up.

I’m going to play devils advocate here and say my diesel experience with both a ram and wrangler was horrific. My ram was the original eco diesel that had a litany of issues. However my jlu was the more recent revision [2019] and was a total disaster as well. Ran rough, horribly sluggish and had oddball intermittent issues. Granted I believe a lot of the issues stemmed from being in California and the extreme emissions equipment they install on it. At my local dealer back in 2019 they had lots of eco diesel in for blown engines. After that I sold my jlu and got the gladiator. The pentastar is imho underpowered but more reliable in my eyes. I would have near panic attacks with my old jlu whe I was going on a long trip hoping nothing would give and leave me stranded.

That’s true, and I’m not sure how the diesel clocks a better 0-60 with less power and more weight,

Because it takes torque to get going, not horsepower.......and the diesel makes a shit ton of it at about 1400 rpms and up

First post .
I had the gas rubicon knowing I was immediately going to trade for the diesel when they were available. The salesman let me know it was time and i factory ordered a loaded rubi. The gas with the 8 speed was great with no load would pass people on the hwy no problem. The diesel will do the same except with a load of gear. The first thing you notice is the revs arent there but you suddenly have a tail wind like someone must be pushing you to be going that fast for what it sounds like. Me my brother and my dad all ordered diesels . Weve been jeepers for 48 years. The only

thing I’m going to regret is changing the serpentine belt.
