When I purchased my Gladiator it came with the MaxCare extended coverage from CarMax. I've been reading into it more and more and have been considering cancelling it. Problem is, I can find one good reason to keep it for every good reason to cancel it. I've never had a vehicle with a warranty on it before, manufacturer or otherwise, so I'm finding it tough to put a value on it and also understand what I'm looking at when comparing MaxCare to the FCA warranty. The two big points that stick out to me on why it might be worth getting it refunded are:
Does anyone have any experience that could maybe shine some light on this for me? I've still got a month left where I can get a full refund for the plan. To answer the logical next question, if I cancel the MaxCare I was not planning to go with another extended warranty from somewhere else. Would I really be missing out if I got rid of the MaxCare plan?
- I prefer to do my own maintenance. Oil changes, fluid flushes, brakes, pretty much anything short of drivetrain. MaxCare requires me to have even the basic maintenance done at a shop with verifiable records in order to process a claim.
- It's a 2020 with 9k miles on it. There's plenty of time and miles left on the manufacturers warranty. That makes the MaxCare seem redundant.
