Thank you. I just don't want something that sticks out and throws rocks and stuff all over my paint. A little would be fine, but rather have them about flush if possible. Trying to avoid spacers. Maybe Ill stick with the 285/70-17 just to be safe. I don't do any hard wheeling, mostly a DD and the occasional adventure.I would like to go to the a/T though, the stock Firestone M/T are a little noisier than I would like.
You shouldn’t have any trouble reselling those Firestone Destination MTs.

Have you seen the new Firestone Destination XT? It has a tread pattern that sits in-between their Destination MT and AT.

Discount Tire mounted my Nitto MT 35×12.50 17 tires on my factory Mojave wheels.
3 days later I am running some pretty hairy stuff north of Creede Co.

No rub at all.

Fact: Discount tire’s website is wrong Nitto 35x12.5x17 are not rated to be installed on 7.5” wide rims. Check Nitto’s info on their site.
There are no 35x12.5x17 tires that are rated to be mounted on stock 7.5” rims.
I’ve also seen Discount Tire have the wrong specs. I even spotted a mistake on Mickey Thompson’s website once that they later fixed. They had a narrower wheel width requirement on a 12.5” wide tire than their 12” wide tire.

All this being said, TFL (The Fast Lane Truck YouTube channel) runs 7.5” wide steelies on their Gladiator with 35x12.5s and they do just fine. Mind you, they wheel that thing pretty hard and they have hella weight on it with gear too.

The small wheel will keep you from being able to safely deflate below 20-25 psi according to some other YouTube channels I’ve watched. At the end of the day, the safest thing to do is to follow the manufacturer recommendations, pointblank and period.

I had not seen those, those look pretty nice. I was originally torn between the Falken's that come on the Rubicons, the Ridge Grapplers, and the Toyo ATIII......
Yes, Firestone finally got its mojo back.

After getting burnt by Ford with the Explorer rollover issue, and then getting bought out by Bridgestone, Firestone finally started putting out some serious tires over the past five or so years. Their Destination sub-brand has been a home run with truck owners.

White letters would still look great on your white truck with black wheels, btw.

Agreed! I like the white outline as opposed to the solid white block letters. That was kind of my hang up with those couple I was looking at. If I can get the white outline on those Firestones that may be a winner.

I’m more of a white block letters kinda guy. But they go well with my white retro wheels.

Yeah that looks real good all around. Not sure you could run anything else with a classic wheel like that other than block letters.....

Look on Nitto’s site or any of the other 12.5” wide tires Discount Tire claims fit on 7.5” wide rims, perhaps Discount Tire knows better than the manufacturer lol.

Discount tire is a pretty solid company and know there crap. I don't think they would risk being sued over mounting something that would result in a failure. They have the guide above for a reason. They refused to mount 13.5 wide tires on my JKU on 17x7.5 wheels for the those reasons. Often manufacturer websites have inaccurate info, including the weight and size of tires.

I have never saw or heard of anyone having a failure from mounting a 12.5 wide tire to a 17 7.5 wheel. That's 28yrs of building them.

Not true at all and discount tire has a chart to go by that says you can mount up to a 37 12.5 17 on a 17x7.5 wheel. If you couldn't do it safely they wouldn't do it.

That's their chart

Mine that they mounted 37 12.5 17's on

If you got the wide axle's like on the max tow and Rubicon's you will not run. A 12.5" wide tire will rub the lower control arms at full lock without spacers on non wide axle JTs
I was able to slap on 37x12.5x17 patagonias on oe wheel (still on) at factory height (sport s max tow), but I lifted 3.5 a week later (DO NOT run 37s without lift). Bumper winglets may require minor trimming.

Those were roughly the last set made before they revised min rim width to 8.5. Through my research, all 37s now @ 12.5 will require 8.5 min width rim. U should be able to go up to 35x12.5x17 with most, if not all, tires on oe rim. @Discount Tire almost didn't approve the install until I showed them the difference in part numbers. So from my experience as well, they don't just go by a chart as it more just a guideline, they do verify the tire manufacture ratings.

Even with lift, without extra backspacing, u WILL rub at full clock even with wider axle if u do 12.5 tire width ( may be do to control arm drop brackets for geometry correction, but my lower arms have the proof). Otherwise, I have no major issues with my setup and I wheel her occasionally through FL swamp/sand/mud.

Yeah you can on a Max Tow, non Max tows your going rub the lower control arms. I had 35 12.5 17's mounted on mine the day after I bought it, no lift. I could of wheeled it that way, but the wife said lift it.

Can anyone provide a tire manufacturer site that lists a 12.5” wide tire or 315 and 7.5” wide wheel being in the range to mount them?
