Well the service guy I dealt with when my Charger’s lifters collapsed must’ve been completely misinformed because that’s exactly what he told me when they had my car for 3 weeks. It was bought used at a different dealership too.

That sucks that OP is having a shit experience with his dealer.

Sounds like a "that dealership" policy than a corporate police and may be a YMMV situation depending on what dealership one is dealing with.

I just know and have looked into it that the basic vehicle warranty one drives off the lot with does not conferrer a right to a rental provision or reimbursement for warranty work. The extend MOPRAR warranty/service plans do though.

Good points about my wife, except that I believe she’s right in most ways, otherwise we would have had words. Will I ever feel comfortable driving a truck that left me stranded on a back road and under 18,000 miles on it? I’ve never bought a new vehicle before that did that. i‘ve always depended on my trucks and this has shaken my confidence. The error messages flashing on the dash were crazy, besides service transmission and the like, one popped up saying “Steering Wheel Not Straight”. Who thinks these things up?
The truck is gas with the 8-speed auto. Still under warranty. There were no manual trucks for me to test drive here on the north side of Indy. I won’t mention any names.

My wife has weighed in already, “I told you so!” She seemed to like my new Gladiator 11 months ago when I bought it, she really enjoyed driving the back roads with me with the tops and doors off. She was even sympathetic at first when I called to tell her the gladiator was broken down and I wasn’t sure if I could get home. But after much trial and error I found that if I disconnected BOTH batteries I could clear enough faults to limp home. So it sat in our driveway for several days with batteries disconnected until the service dept could get it in. It wasn’t until I told her that service said it will take 3 weeks to get the valve body in that she started in with “I told you so!” She remembers the only other American vehicle I ever bought, 25 years ago when we were first married. After that experience I swore I’d never buy another American vehicle. But when I saw the Gladiator last year it reminded me of my grandfather’s Willys truck and we test drove the gladiator. Now my wife tells me that when and if they get it repaired I am to sell it immediately, take my losses and buy a Tacoma or something similar. The dealer won’t even give me a loaner so I’m going to be probably a month without my truck, which usually I drive every day. I even called my salesman from dealer thinking he might value customer satisfaction and repeat customers. I told him that there must be a part available somewhere, probably in Kokomo which is only 50 miles from here, even if it needs to come out of a new transmission. I said he could make calls, tell them - Hey! This is my customer! Jeep doesn’t treat customers this way! I want that valve body ASAP!
Sorry Charlie, not gonna happen. He was peeved because I woke him up in bed at 9:30 AM.

The Jeep wave program does indicate loaner etc. I’ve never taken one of ours in and not gotten a rental. Even for normal service they give me another gladiator or wrangler.
You are right on that but that expires after two years and the remaining basic warranty language does not have a rental past that.

I’ve had a brand new turbo Cadillac drop 2 pistons. I’ve had a transmission go out in a Honda. I shot a connecting rod through the oil pan of a S2000. Fuel pump go out on Mazda. Transmission go out in a million pieces of a JK. Stuff happens over the years. Most of these were used vehicles and clearly had some rough original owners but it doesn’t matter what brand you buy—-you could be golden or could have some trouble. It happens.
Echoing another post, many of these “foreign” manufacturers are in fact made in the USA. Many Chrysler and Chevy are not or are imported parts. What’s the difference??? Nada.

Edit :Also just googled it out of curiosity. Says it’s for the whole 5yr or 60k mile. Even better ?

Married 41 years, my wife knows better then to tell me what to do. The dealer I got my Gladiator from best not tell me no loaner. Wife and I have bought six vehicles in the last nine years. I would start by informing the wife that I am keeping the truck and the dealer needs to get you a loaner if he wants to keep your business.

Just double checked the Jeep Wave language on a rental and it is basically worthless and is only for a same day repair/service and not overnight work.

https://www.jeep.com/jeep-wave.html

What does first day rental allowance cover?
First Day Rental Allowance provides $35.00 car rental allowance if the vehicle is to be serviced for any same day mechanical repair or maintenance service (excluding bodywork). Vehicles kept overnight are not eligible for First Day Rental. Please note: Excludes rental for bodywork to the exterior sheet metal/composite panel or frame collision repairs.
The rental vehicle must be obtained from a dealer. If a dealer does not have rental vehicles available, you may obtain one from a licensed rental agency. Rental coverage is subject to state and local laws and policies imposed by the rental agency. Rental charges in excess of the amount allowed by the plan are the member’s responsibility. The plan is not responsible for any refusal of a rental agency to rent a vehicle to you.

96th Street between Keystone and Allisonville Road on the north side of the street.
I'd be talking to the General Manager about a loaner, be a bit forceful.

1) Re-acquire balls from change purse.

2) Demand a loaner

3) why get rid of it if they fix it ? Stuff happens. If they make it right it should be fine. Tons of jeeps in the road with this drivetrain.

Neither the dealer or Jeep Wave is required to give a loaner. Jeep wave covers $35 of the first day of a rental. What were you doing when it went down?

If it's under warranty they should have to give you a loaner to drive

Harsh thread here lol

Speaking on shitty marriages, I had a buddy whose wife went out and bought a new car against his wishes. Didn’t make financial sense he said. He went out a month later and bought a brand new truck far more expensive than the SUV she bought. Needless to say they were fucking idiots and are now divorced.

You do you OP. Me? I listen to my wife most of the time. If it wasn’t for her we’d have defaulted on the home loan years ago, but I’d have one sick ass Gladiator and three safes full of firearms (instead of just one) lol

Ironically, as soon as my wife set foot on the Rubicon that we took out on a test drive, she fell in love with the Gladiator. The following day, she offered to help pay for it, if we went back to the dealership and bought one ? (what !?!?). Once she saw the interior in the HA the following day, there was no going back home without it.

While she didn't quite boss me around, she "twisted my arm" a little to get the JT. And I have no regrets, I love this truck. I loved my Tacoma as well, but don't miss it at all. I hope I'm never in OP's shoes, but If I ever was, I know I won't be nagged by my wife ;).
