Waiting on Earl to order my diesel JT. With that said I just got a 2020 charger as a work vehicle and I’m truly surprised with the initial fuel economy, 26 (hand) highway going 70 to 75 mph

That's what my wife's second (or was it third) Camaro did back in the 90s. Surprised us, hand calculated from KC to DSM on I35 moving along about 70. AC on, windows up.
Assuming the Charger of today is heavier than that tank of a Camaro was in 1990, and likely more HP in the Charger today, pretty good mpg.

Im right there with you and your frustrations. I don't think I overheated but it threw a "service electronic throttle control" message and derated the shit out it. Doing 65mph in 88f on gentle hills. Once i cycled the key it would go back to full power but happened repeatedly. It would probably do 90mph if I asked it but any load over 60 seconds and it would fault. ?

I know this is a very minor point, but how do you access all these digital gauges??

I'm on mobile. Signatures don't show up at all. But thanks. Interesting how different the results are between the two similar trucks.
It says diesel in the thread title.

I know what the thread title says. But a good mix of folks with gas engines and diesels are responding with their reuslts. I wasn't asking the original poster, I was asking the person saying that they had a better experience than the op, in order to understand why such a drastically different result for the same setup. The person I was asking already responded. Thanks.

That’s an interesting option..
One thing that I was surprised at when I picked up my gas Rubicon is that the hood “scoops” are purely decorative…I thought there would be some heat dissipation vents installed…It seems like a perfect opportunity to do that…

A few years ago I had a Porsche 944 turbo S (951 for those of you that know about such things) and in the process of turning it into a track beast we took out a net 500 pounds after installing a full roll cage. We also installed a larger turbo which have used about 50 additional HP but that engine got hot! So we cut two rectangular holes in the hood and put louvered covers on them to help funnel the air out of the engine compartment.

It worked great and hence my surprise that Jeep didn’t do that with the Rubicon hood…

You don't buy a jeep for towing you buy one to climb rocks and play in the dirt. If you have expectations of it being a primarily tow vehicle you are sorely mistaken, buy a ram 3500. The wrangler/jt platform is for dirt first work second by design other wise the jt would have had a closer setup of a ram. You want something that is designed for work, you got caught in marketing bs, and should of just bought a true truck.
LOL You saved me some typing. I‘ve tow lots of stuff and wouldn’t ever think of towing much more than a quad/jet ski trailer behind my JT.

Tundra and call it a day.

…or, better yet, buy a Ford F450!
