Hey everyone, I have had my JTRD for about a month now and am about to take it out at the end of August for some of it's first off-roading.

I am going with a group of guys to AOAA in PA, and if it's anything like Rausch creek, there will be plenty of rocky outcrops and muddy water holes to get through. I am the only diesel owner, so I am reaching out to the collective knowledge here for any advice/tips/tricks that are especially important to know for us.

I am running stock, staying on green/blue trails, and my overall skill level and experience is low. I will be with some trail vets. Any input would be appreciated! TIA

You need to bring humility. Which based on this post you already have. Congratulations.

There are lots of place with minimum equipment lists. But if you are going to be with a lot of other people, I would think you would be ok.

Seriously, an open mind and a humble attitude are huge.

Most important, do NOT succumb to the testosterone fueled peer pressure and be forced into doing something you are not comfortable with or ready for.
Learn what your ride can do and take baby steps.

Being called a p*ssy is much cheaper and easier than rolling a new Jeep.

This is good advice, take your own risks not those that others think you should. It’s your rig, don’t give in to “just send it” or “ it’ll be fine, I did it.”

JTRD's can burn a lot of oil before their first scheduled maintenance. I would check it and top it off accordingly. And if you are close to an oil change, get it done beforehand.

Keep an eye on your temps, use the offroad pages and take some pics and vids, don't forget to share with the group. Don't forget to keep yourself hydrated and enjoy.

One of the guys is def a "send it" type of guy lol. Fortunately, we all know each other well enough to say no way if it we dont agree.

Be prepared to hear some scrapping on the skids, but that's what they are there for. You grimace a little the first few times but get use to it. Lol.
^I'm looking forward to learning more about the JT...but I'm a bit worried about the armor. Like I said, it is totally stock and from what I understand, the Diesel has a bunch of extra stuff going on underneath.

I think I have a grasp on the basics...slow and controlled: Avoid the pumpkins: put the tires on the taller stuff...easier said than done I'm sure lol

Im going to say, some sort of cb or coms that the group is using. Pretty handy to hear whats going on.
OItherwise, mostly just stuff for yourself, something to eat and drink, stay cool etc. Im pretty sure your rubicon wont have any problems. Just have fun and try and learn. Bring someone who can take pics/video for ya. Youll want to look back at all the cool shots.
