Ok just measured my 35x12.50 17 dick cepek extr country and they are 33.5 with 40lbs air pressure and less than 500 miles. So contact manufacturer and going to complain and will start a petition for recall or whatever. They should be sued for false advertisin. I did not pay $305 for a stupid 33.5, I paid that much for a 35. Now I know from reading these threads on this site they are other brands doing same and some brands are true to size. I say petition them to do the right thing. This is robbery and deceitful. Maybe someone on here can inform me to make me feel better. I would like to be wrong and or something, I would like to tire that we ain’t getting rubbed over by tire folks, when they more off of racing and off road vehicles

My 315/70/r17 tires (nominally 35") sit 33.5" high at 30psi.... I think it's been this way for a lot longer than you might guess. In other words "too bad".

That, to my understanding, is how tire manufacturers size their tires....under no load.
Take the rim off the truck, air the tire up to the rec. pressure and measure it.
gain an inch in tire height after taking weight off; man I didn’t think it would flex that much. I feel lot better at 34.5 I still do not like the fact they at 35 inch’s on the floor aired up and all. Next buy will be true to size.

Thanks for the insight. Seems not everyone has true sizes.

There are some do that do interco I had them on a old z71….been in 90s so it’s been a while for me worrying about anything 35 and up. I will definitely measure air up tire on tire shops floor and if it ain’t 37 or little bit over I will wait until they find a tire that’s true

You are pissing up a rope if you think you are going to get anything for this sudden discovery that many already know about with off road tires in general.

Dick Cepek lists that size OD at 34.5" in their spec charts and as previously mentioned is unloaded and probably at the max PSI rating.

This has been explained ad nauseum.

Manufacturers measure tires on a specific width wheel, at a specific PSI, with no load on them, AND including the bulge of the sidewalls. Their listed measurements are spot-on.

Jeep owners measure tires on their own wheels, at their own PSI, with a load on them, in a straight line from the ground up. Totally different measurement.

Just got done calibrating my Speedo for my new “35” inch K02’s. I had to enter 34 inches. 37s will be in my future.

Did you not plug in the tire size you were looking to buy into the numerous tire size and comparison calculators and charts on the tire vendor sites? Several good ones even allow you to compare two tires, give the revs per mile, diameter, width and much more.
Been that way for YEARS.
ACCORDING TO THE CHARTS at tirerack, discounttires and other places -
The so-called 32" tire on the Overland is actually 32.2"
The so-called 33" tire o the Rubicon is actually 32.8" so in reality there's only .6" difference between the two.
That's according to the actual tire makers specs.

I'd rather see us sue the lumber sellers for selling us 2x4s that are only 1.5 x 3.5" and 3/4" plywood that's not 3/4" thick by any stretch.
