Dude! You have the patience of Job. If my dealer ever did that to me, (they never would) I’d load it on a truck with big ass sign “Shoulda bought a Bronco” and park it outside Jeeps engineering/development Dept. I’ve never had an issue with any Jeep I’ve owned and don’t expect to. But this? Is ridiculous.

But hey that’s me.

It would be interesting to know that Deaers service rating from FCA. When I was having some issues with my Truck the service manager showed me a print off showing three rating levels of service departments. Depending on the rating they could perform certain warranty work without having to contact FCA first. The higher the rating, the more stuff they can do and process the warranty after the fact to get the customer on their way faster. Makes me wonder if:

A) this dealer has a low rating with Mopar and they would have to clear the Replacement first and expect it would be denied.

or

B) they have been screwed over too many times by doing warranty replacements for parts that end up getting charged back to the dealer aftewards by FCA denying the claim. So now they are very conservative on what they replace through warranty.

A little water in the alternator shouldn’t be an issue. Soaking it with filthy, gritty water can be a whole other thing.

You also should not feel as though you should have cleaned the bay. Sure, it may have saved you in this case, but no one ever washed engines when I was a kid unless they were checking for fluid leaks. Anyways, we’re rooting for ya.
Yeaaa it's never been soaked in anything lol hence my confusion

I just think that maybe if my bay had been cleaner, I would be having a different experience. Can't say for sure though. I appreciate that! Will have to wait til Monday to see

I'm trying haha. I can't be anything but patient. I don't want to be rude to employees, they're doing their jobs. Plus being a dick won't get me anywhere. Just gotta see what happens. I've never had any issues before nor did I expect to ever have issues. I just have bad luck I guess! It'll get figured out one way or another

You prompted me to Google service ratings and what I found online regarding the dealership I went to weren't the best reviews lol ? Not the FCA ratings you're mentioning but just reviews in general. Not impressed. There is something on their end business wise that is making them cautious/reluctant to do warranty work. I keep looking at the pictures I took and the more I look at them, the less I think that I have done anything wrong. Just looks dirty to me. I'll see what happens Monday when I can get the truck to another dealership. Going to try and go as early as possible so that I can hopefully hear back by the end of their work day.

I know you're being polite, and ordinarily I am too. But, especially if this gets covered under warranty, please name names. Folks need to know what dealer to stay away from to avoid these kinds of issues.

I mentioned earlier in the thread, currently dealing with Airport Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Central FL. Still undecided as to where I'm going to try and take it to next. Have 2 in mind but it'll depend on how I'm going to transport the truck. One's a little bit further than the other

Did anyone change the oil recently? That is definitely some kind of oil
That was my thinking - the colors around it look more like oil residue than water/dirt.
Antifreeze/coolant on aluminum also leaves similar looking residue as does gasoline. I've got pics of some of my older cars (aluminum intakes) and the residue colors somewhere - but water doesn't discolor like that.

Yea that's what I was thinking too. It looks like oil, not water. Which is what I tried telling the service guys but they didn't listen to me. I mean I can't say for sure, I'm not a car expert. But I know enough to know that it looks like some other fluid, not water

Did you buy it new?
Yep I bought it new. Have ran it through car washes before with no issues. Have never cleaned under the hood/engine bay since purchasing it

I mean there is no way you drove it heated it up and it was still there if it's water. Is it still there?

Truck broke down on Monday and the only water it had seen for 2 weeks was a car wash early on Monday. Drove it around for a bit and then broke down on side of highway. Waited for 4-5 hours for tow to get there. Was towed to dealer and dealer called me like 30 minutes after dropping it off advising there appeared to be "moisture" under the hood. Stayed there Tuesday all day. The pictures I posted were taken Weds. So I feel like if it were water, it would've evaporated while I was stuck on the side of the road. Tried telling that to the service department but they didn't want to listen to me. It was a hot couple of days with no rain so it for sure would've been evaporated by Weds. I haven't been able to get to truck as the service center was closed yesterday when I got to it. I'm going to try and get there early tomorrow morning (as long as I have a ride) and see. Plan is to try and jump it and limp it to next dealership. Plan B is to get my own tow to come get it. But want to at least get it out of dealership's service lot before it gets towed
