I know hard roof is not an issue, how about rag tops?

I’ve never had a major issue with soft top vehicles in a car wash. It might leak a little, but that’s about it.

I’ve always used brush car washes, the newer version, and have never had a paint issue. I am also wondering how they will do with the soft top. Anyone with a JT with a soft top used one on here? If so, what’s your experience?

They're not perfectly sealed so you might get some water leaks. Touchless car washes I would say are even worse for you car because of the crazy amount of pressure from the water jets and the soaps they use are crazy strong and strip all protection from your paint.

The brushed works fine with my sunrider/hardtop combo. Depending on the pressure angle I occasionally get a small leak here or there through the door seal but nothing major.

No leaks in my soft top during brushed car washes so far. I don't understand why so many in automobile car forums are scared of them. Never had an issue with paint.

They often pin stripe paint pretty good. My black ram would get at least one new pin stripe every time I took it through as well as my wife's black Acura. On the other colors since it's just pin stripes it's not usually noticeable and they buff out fine.

The car I traded in for my gladiator was black and I did nothing but go through automatic car washes. It looked good from about 10 feet away when cleaned but once you got up near you could see how destroyed the paint was. But yeah if you HAVE TO go through an automatic car wash with a soft top I would go through one with a brushes. The touchless washes have a lot of extremely high pressure water jets shooting from every direction possible and you know those car washes will take no responsibility if any damage occurs. They usually have signs posted letting you know if anything happens its your responsibility

I would only use brushless car washes, and only as a last resort. If I can't hand wash my Jeep, it usually just stays dirty........which is most of the time. ;)

Same here. I’ve taken mine through one at least once a week for the past year and the paint and top still look like new. I use a newish car wash with well maintained equipment.

Got it. That makes sense. I haven't had that experience.

I took my JLU through the carwash and scratched the plastic windows pretty bad. They had a haze to them. Mostly the side ones. The JT doesn't have side ones, so I would just do it. Eventually will probably need replacing anyway.

Even if you survive the water pressure and brushes, you have to pray the mental giants drying the car don't have rings or belt buckles! That's what happened to my last car, scratched all over, they paid to have it buffed out...

Yesterday I ran my 2022 Glad with a soft top through a local, modern equipment car wash. No issues, the blowers blow most of the water off, go over to vacuum area where damp cloths you finish the drying, door jambs, etc. My Jeep is red, not a mark on it. Going to ditch the factory radio antenna for a shorty, that thing went crazy! My suggestion, go to a clean modern wash that attracts a nicer car clientele and wash away.
