Am I crazy for debating trading my gladiator for a TRX?

If the TRX got somewhat ok mileage, like 18 mixed, I would have probably bought it. Seeing as how I'm averaging 18mpg with a stock diesel rubicon, I'd probably average like 7mpg with the TRX.

I’ve debated the same decision for months. Ultimately I can’t bring myself to do it due to the fuel mileage. I put 30k a year on trucks. 10-12mpg on premium fuel with no idea where fuel prices will be in a year, I just can’t do it.

You can order a 2022 10k below MSRP FYI.

The limited driving aspect almost makes having a TRX make more sense. Don't drive often, so when you do, make it an event. Re-sale on a low mileage TRX probably won't be terrible. Raptors have held there value well. This assumes you can find one anywhere near msrp. If you haven't been on a car lot lately it's bad. My mom wanted to check out a 392 Durango and the salesman who had been there 7 months had never seen one on the lot. The hellcat and trackhawk both had markups putting them over 100k. Think the 83k TRX had a sticker of 95k.
-oh and if I had money to burn I'd probably v8 swap the gladiator lol. Even the 5.7 would be awesome(plus use regular gas). I miss the sound.

Are you saying you can order a '22 TRX for $10k under MSRP? If so where?

For me its 3 things.

Size - TRX is much larger than I want to drive.

Cost - TRX is more than I want to spend.

Fuel economy - I'd like to get into the double digits.

Which is why I was really hoping for the 4xe gladiator for 2022. Huge torque, great power, same truck. Government subsidized to the tune of about $9000.

That makes things more tempting, the 10k off that is.

One thing about Rams is that compared to Ford and GM they have always seemed crude to me.

But this new generation truck changes everything.

I don’t know what anyone has been smoking but in my opinion, since 2009 Ram 1500’s have been the pretties of all the trucks in terms of interior and exterior, albeit the 5th gen is pretty ugly in anything other than a Rebel or TRX trim.

Just for yucks I priced out a Ram with options that are available on the Jeep. It came out about 8 k more than my Mojave. The Mojave with a Gupton price and the Ram with 10k off.

You can make it much more expensive than that because the Ram can be had with many many luxury options that aren't available on the Jeep at all.

Oh well. I really don't like driving whales. So no amount of power is going to help that.
