So I have another opportunity to upgrade my gladiator. I have a 21 Rubicon with 37s, Mopar lift, and bumper with 14000 miles. Dealer wants to buy it for 53500 so I can upgrade to a diesel. I will lose the lift, tires, and bumpers but can swap over my winch and bed rack. It’s approx 15 dollars more a month and will have a new diesel. Yes I will have to do a lift again but will probably do 35s because moving out of town I need the mpg back a little and the range. So the is diesel worth it?? The range, power, and slightly better mpg sound great but the diesel maitance and prices are all over the place. I’m leaning towards doing it what do you guys think? Happy with your diesel??

IMO the monthly cost is irrelevant, what is the actual cost difference of the two JTs?
I owe 46 on the 3.6 Rubi and getting 53.5 for it. Paid 49 for it. Msrp of the Diesel is 56.5. Out the door is 50.5.

But what did you pay for the 3.6 and how much do you have in with mods, taxes, registration and interest?

Paid 49 for mine. I would need to replace front bumper, 35s, mopar lift, and wheels. Say an extra 3500 for mods if that.

I personally love my diesel.

I am at 2,000 miles of mostly all city driving and am averaging over 18mpg on a 2 inch lift and 37's. At 70-80mph on highway drives I average 24-26mpg. I highly doubt it would be more than a 1-2mpg difference between 35's and 37's.

I don't think I'd go to the 3.6 after having had the diesel. If this engine turns out to be crap long term I'm going to be looking long and hard for something else to drive because I'm so in love with the JT/Diesel combo.

a ruby diesel is closer to 58k, color hardtop, prox locks, remote start, cloth seats, 7" radio) 60k by the time it's out the door. Are you replacing a gas ruby for a ecoD ruby? or going from a ruby to say a sport?

If you want the same as what you have but in a diesel there are about 8k worth of cost missing.

the eco is a great motor but you have to be prepared to have more fuss and PITA in your life, special oil, fuel filters, fuel additive, bottoming out on little bumps , Oil leaks all seem to be pretty common among other things, so if you are ok having it at the dealer for fussy warranty stuff then it's a good rig, if you are dependent on it for daily driver and can't have it down if it develops a issue stick to the gasser.

Dealers don't sell cars anymore, they sell loans/finance and if they can lock you into an endless finance scheme they win. The car is the bait to do it.

I don’t pay full price for anything. Mopar lift self install 1200. 37s 800. Rims 600. Bumper 400.

gas ruby to diesel ruby. Have all the same options. Black top, 7 inch radio, tow package, remote start, heated seats, accessory.

We absolutely love our diesel and would highly recommend that you take the plunge. 25mpg around town, and that torque... Only additional maintenance we've experienced is $20 for DEF every 6000 miles.
