By an experienced shop I trust āTrail Jeeps in Golden, COā, Iāve been told that at Rubicons have stronger housings. Iām upgrading to 37ās and the conversation was that if I had a sport or overland, Iād need trussing to handle those tires without failures being likely. Since I have Rubi axles, Iām fine as long as I donāt wheel it like a fool, meaning lead foot.
Just because something didnāt exist, and we survived the 80ās and 90ās without it, doesnāt make it any less nice. Parked outside, buried in snow at close to 9,000ft, the cold weather package is amazing. If Iām not mistaken, remote start goes with it, which is even more important.
I agree, some advancements are good, like auto start in situations you describe, but heated seats and steering? My wife's Subaru has these options and I've never needed to use them, so I'd hardly consider them a must have. I was just surprised how many Jeep owners think they are. To me it's just another electronic that can fail.
I think it would be less useful if I could get auto-start, but for those of us who like to do our own shifting, it isn't an option. I've made do without a heated steering wheel my whole life, and now that I have experienced it, I'm ruined and can't go back to gripping a cold wheel in the winter, lol. Also, I could and have lived with cars that didn't have functioning heaters in the winter. Doesn't mean I don't consider a heater to be necessary.
The factory LEDS are AWESOME! First time I've ever had some random person compliment my vehicles running lights. Do you not have the automatic high-beams? It's another feature that I've never had but now love. I'm often surprised at how rarely it gets confused. I eventually want to get a Tazer so I can run the fogs with the high beams(among other things like being locked in 2-high for donuts in the winter).

Ah yes true, I forgot you can't get auto start in a manual, that's unfortunate. This is the first automatic I've purchased for myself and I know I'm going to miss the control you get from rowing the gears but the clutch didnt feel right on my test drive and I didn't want to lose a third of the towing capacity.
I do not. The only option my Overland doesnāt have is the safety group with adaptive cruise control. I think itās part of that package. I have the other one with the blind spot monitoring and back up sensors. Both are super handy with the Gladiatorās blind spots being pretty bad.
Well all I can say is I'm glad we have options. If I had to have the safety and advanced safety packages, amongst others, I doubt I would have purchased. It's bad enough ESS and now proximity sensors (hate this feature and will disable it) are forced on certain trims.Well said. My first Gladiator order, which I cancelled, didn't have the ACC group, but I rethought it because my insurance gave a discount for the forward collision warning. Turns out, I love the ACC and the automatic high beam features, both of which I thought I would be indifferent towards.
Good call. I thought weād rarely use ACC, but I use it in highway driving thatās moving well. I just set it 2-3mph more than I think the people in front of me are going. Nicer than adjusting cruise. Not necessary on short drives, but 100 miles on relatively flat interstates, and itās very nice.
Not sure I can be helpful here. They are always on when I want them on and always off when I want them off, so I haven't even tried to manually activate them. Are you saying there were times that you wanted them on, but they shut themselves off in auto and you couldn't manually activate them? Is the camera being fooled into thinking there are cars around?
