Pictures won't indicate what people are claiming - tube wall thickness.
Otherwise most seem to say they are the same - but a few still claim tube wall thickness is different and yet no one can point to the specs or numbers. Someone said it 2 or 3 years ago, someone else said it, it got copied and pasted and is now a fact. But no one can support it.

So you are saying the housings, the differential housing - the center section - is stronger?
That Rubicon uses different axle housings than Sport or Overland - the housing is different?
By an experienced shop I trust ā€œTrail Jeeps in Golden, COā€, I’ve been told that at Rubicons have stronger housings. I’m upgrading to 37’s and the conversation was that if I had a sport or overland, I’d need trussing to handle those tires without failures being likely. Since I have Rubi axles, I’m fine as long as I don’t wheel it like a fool, meaning lead foot.

My OEM LED lights are amazing. They’re up there with the Alpine/8.4ā€ and Cold Weather package as my favorite options on my Overland. I’ve never seen an aftermarket LED set up with such a sharp cut off. I’ve never been high beamed once and they are stupid bright. this pic is raw/unedited. I honestly view them as a safety feature on my many late night mountain drives.

Those are my high beams. I’m sure I’d blind the hell out of oncoming traffic if I didn’t turn my low beams on. My low beams plus fog lights is what I run most of the time and have never been flashed.

I'm really surprised how many of you think the cold weather package is a must have. I've driven for 30 years without needing a heated seat or steering wheel living in some pretty cold places in Canada. Gloves are a thing ?

Just because something didn’t exist, and we survived the 80’s and 90’s without it, doesn’t make it any less nice. Parked outside, buried in snow at close to 9,000ft, the cold weather package is amazing. If I’m not mistaken, remote start goes with it, which is even more important.

I agree, some advancements are good, like auto start in situations you describe, but heated seats and steering? My wife's Subaru has these options and I've never needed to use them, so I'd hardly consider them a must have. I was just surprised how many Jeep owners think they are. To me it's just another electronic that can fail.

Auto start can be added without heated seats. I ordered it in my '22 Mojave and did not get the winter package.

I think it would be less useful if I could get auto-start, but for those of us who like to do our own shifting, it isn't an option. I've made do without a heated steering wheel my whole life, and now that I have experienced it, I'm ruined and can't go back to gripping a cold wheel in the winter, lol. Also, I could and have lived with cars that didn't have functioning heaters in the winter. Doesn't mean I don't consider a heater to be necessary.

The factory LEDS are AWESOME! First time I've ever had some random person compliment my vehicles running lights. Do you not have the automatic high-beams? It's another feature that I've never had but now love. I'm often surprised at how rarely it gets confused. I eventually want to get a Tazer so I can run the fogs with the high beams(among other things like being locked in 2-high for donuts in the winter).

Well said. Just because we lived without something for decades, doesn’t mean we should avoid the feature to prove we can. :)

Ah yes true, I forgot you can't get auto start in a manual, that's unfortunate. This is the first automatic I've purchased for myself and I know I'm going to miss the control you get from rowing the gears but the clutch didnt feel right on my test drive and I didn't want to lose a third of the towing capacity.

It's funny what we get used to I guess, but a functioning heater is a safety issue as far as I'm concerned. I've never driven without one in the winter as it would be impossible to see out the windows

I do not. The only option my Overland doesn’t have is the safety group with adaptive cruise control. I think it’s part of that package. I have the other one with the blind spot monitoring and back up sensors. Both are super handy with the Gladiator’s blind spots being pretty bad.

Well all I can say is I'm glad we have options. If I had to have the safety and advanced safety packages, amongst others, I doubt I would have purchased. It's bad enough ESS and now proximity sensors (hate this feature and will disable it) are forced on certain trims.

The OP asked what features people really liked, or really wished they had. My responses are primarily related to features very difficult or expensive to add later. I don’t think they care to hear about features people with 4 decades of driving think they’re too tough to need. :).

My first Gladiator order, which I cancelled, didn't have the ACC group, but I rethought it because my insurance gave a discount for the forward collision warning. Turns out, I love the ACC and the automatic high beam features, both of which I thought I would be indifferent towards.

The factory steel bumper is nice, particularly if you want a winch. When I was looking almost none of them on the lots had one.

I installed a winch a few days ago. Went in nice and easy. It still took about three hours but it bolted on as prescribed.

Also…if you plan to tow, the factory brake controller. I know there is some noise out there about it vs other aftermarket solutions. My used 2020 came with one installed. I have not used it yet so I can’t comment on it’s performance at this time but it’s nice that I don’t have to install one as I have on all my previous tow vehicles.
You do lose your cigarette lighter socket though.

Good call. I thought we’d rarely use ACC, but I use it in highway driving that’s moving well. I just set it 2-3mph more than I think the people in front of me are going. Nicer than adjusting cruise. Not necessary on short drives, but 100 miles on relatively flat interstates, and it’s very nice.

I’d be interested in your experience with auto brights. Maybe it’s something I was doing wrong. It was relatively accurate when they turned on, but would not then allow me to manually activate brights when they were needed. I ended up disabling it. Any hints?

Not sure I can be helpful here. They are always on when I want them on and always off when I want them off, so I haven't even tried to manually activate them. Are you saying there were times that you wanted them on, but they shut themselves off in auto and you couldn't manually activate them? Is the camera being fooled into thinking there are cars around?
