Driving older trucks in the snow...it all comes down to know-how. My first snow driving experience was in the family Chevy Suburban. It was a 1974 with the 350 in it, 2WD and regular street tires. That thing was a tank in the snow!!! I remember one snow storm in '81 (I graduated HS that year) that dumped like a foot and a half or more snow on us. I went out in that Suburban and got to and from where I needed to be with no issues...and both ways, my road hadn't been plowed yet, except by my driving on it. I also remember a storm in the late '70's that dumped over 2' on us and my Dad was coming home from Piloting a ship on the Delaware. Again, our road wasn't plowed and he had no issues. Commented that that thing was like a tank in the snow and pretty unstoppable.
So, it comes down to know-how and having a veritable tank!!! Jeeps fall into that category. I have had various incantations of Grand Cherokees and a regular Cherokee. All of which were unstoppable in the snow...both here in PA and when I lived in Massatuchetts.
