If you've ever taken the center console apart (the part with the AC controls just pops out starting from the right side), you'll get access to the screw that holds the bottom unit in place. You can then detach the media unit off from the rear fairly easily. The faceplate to the media unit also comes off separately. There's a pin that holds the cover on but I ended up removing the unit and grinding the cover off with a rotary tool.

How did you get the media port cover off? That thing irritates the crap out of me.

Installed Rough Country LED Pods with the lower windshield mount. Hooked those up to the wireless controller I put in last week, and synced the pods with the home link buttons on the visor.

Now I can turn the lightbar on the bumper on with button 1 and the pod lights on with button 2 of the Homelink controls. There is also a key fob so I can turn them on when the vehicle is not on.

I also cleaned up all the wiring for the lighting. I've never done automotive wiring of any kind really, but I am pleased with the results.

Added 2 phone mounts, center console safe, hot heads liner, AWESOME seat risers for tall drivers, magnet and gun lockbox under front seat now that it’s lifted 1.5 inches, additional storage pockets, do it yourself push button lock rear seat storage mod, custom bed board 2x6 with handles, husky floor mats, American flag vent and rear window vinyl, and a few other things. Thanks for all the ideas. This thread is very dangerous!

Where did you get the wireless controller

Amazon, for $30. Got the idea from another post on here, and used the one he used. It takes about 2 seconds to program the Homelink buttons, and wiring was really easy too. Here's the one I used.
