I wonder if someone has an idea how I might fix my front bumper. While parked, someone clipped my right front bumper as they came by. It caused the inner bumper to separate from the main bumper in that the internal clips were broken.
I took it to the Jeep dealership assuming they could do a quick fix while I waited. Of course not surprising, the foreman of the body shop said that because the clips were torn, the whole bumper (inner and outer) would have to be replaced. Cost $732 for damage you would not even notice unless you looked for it.
I can squeeze the inner bumper into the main bumper with just my hand so I was thinking there has to be a way to press them together and keep them pressed together (without paying $732)?

I would think some sort of silicone adhesive would work. Better yet, probably this stuff would do it. Dries clear and it's flexible.

That thing is held together with a bunch of screws and push clips. Watch a u tube video of replacing the bumper and it will show you how to take it apart. Easy but takes time. if you take it off, you can probably fix it. Rock Hard has some good videos.

If the fix isn't quick, easy and cheap, you may want to think about trying to pickup a take-off bumper.

There was a Mojave bumper in the classifieds for FREE recently.

Thanks, someone suggested JB weld on the FB forum which might be a bit stronger than shoe goo which I used to use on my running shoes.

Thanks, I am hoping to avoid that hassle, but we'll see.

Thanks, someone just offered me a free Rubicon bumper. I'd love to save the trip to pick it up. Right now, I'm considering JB weld.

The inner metal frame is probably bent. Best option is to live with it until a take off is conveniently available.

Two notes:

1) You can remove the bumper and take it apart quite easily, people say it’s a PITA, really it just takes time but once you realize how it’s clipped together it’s super easy. Clips are plastic kind and you can replace them cheaply.

2) I have a rubicon plastic take off, if you ever come to southern nevada you can probably just have it.

Super idea, thanks - sure beats the hell out of paying the dealership $732! :)
