Kind of the idea except it would be a huge improvement to have 20% jeep experience. Here and FB its really like 5% what we did WITH and the rest is what we did TO or something to do about which trim does best.

I had to google that BTW. Now I know
It is what it is.
I'm an hour away from any type of moderate off-roading and there's domestic obligations on top of that. My Jeep required modifications to be suitable for that off roading which required research which a lot of was done here (with mixed results I might add.) Then procurement and installation. All this aspect is forum intensive.

Most of my off-roading is either relatively uneventful or too intense or I'm enjoying myself too much to stop and pose or setup cameras just to drive by then stop and break it down. Not my idea of fun.

And then there's the brand identity group which is A LOT of pedantry and navel gazing and hair splitting and d**k measuring. And every question has to be answered with pics of Jeeps that are completely unrelated to the question because folks are very proud of their unique creations and have to show them off solicited or not.

It is what it is.
When I'm on the trail wondering if this puddle blocking my way is going to be too deep and if there's a suitable winch point or I'll have to shut down quickly not to flood the intake, there's no room for "i wish more folks would post more of this" in the process and when I've gotten through it, my adrenaline and endorphin systems have been thoroughly satisfied and is almost an exercise in degeneration to then attempt to convey the experience in detail here.

God bless those who take the time to document and do so.

44" Ground Hawgs and Monster Mudders were the thing in the early 80s.
I miss my '79 Cherokee Chief with 12 inches of lift, and 44" Ground Hawgs! The hood on that Jeep was 60" off the ground... could almost look semi drivers in the eyes!

Most owner forums are geared to how to work on the vehicle and where specific parts were found.

There are outlets to view where the vehicle has taken people and the things it has done. Any more most of these are self promoting commercials of ones UTube page to gain more hits and links for products given to the person to promote so they can make money on every purchase that starts from their UTube page.

Personally, I'm tired of the self promoters and appreciate the tech savvy that shows up in posts on here.

There are several AWESOME contributors on this Forum. I have my favorite because she dives right in, gets her hands dirty, and actually fabricates some of her stuff. @Kindafearless probably gets tired of me singing her praises, but there are people here that would learn a LOT more if they would pick her brain.

For sheer electrical knowledge, @ShadowsPapa can and will give long, detailed lectures on a subject.

@DAVECS1 is probably THE person to talk to about tuning the 3.6, but he has gotten down on Jeep and himself for the hardware/software change they did and screwed him all up.

I could go on and on, but those are the PRIME examples of what these Boards are about. NOT the self promoting wannabe video stars.

Meh… people do with their vehicle the way they want and post the way they want. Personally I have good days and bad days with my jeep and my thoughts on this forum. Honestly it’s our choice to communicate the way we want. Am I special, nope. Am I bottom feeder here… nope … I’m sassy! :bandit:

We went to OBX 4WD area not too long ago. That's our only adventure so far. Didn't even need 4WD..but used it. Got the truck mostly for hunting and camping. Next year we plan on having a RTT and going on a few trips. Hopefully the following year we can get to Yellowstone and do a 2 week excursion....if it's not a lake by then.

I'm an old school Jeep guy. On my 9th Jeep if you include my FJ40 and Roxor. My 1st new Jeep is a JT and Ive driven plenty of other Jeeps along with other off road vehicles US and internationally. For work and pleasure. Since I retired last year I've gotten in to RV hauling now only drive 1/2 and 3/4 t trucks and RV trailers from IN and OR to Anchorage Alaska. I say this because I need to be clear where I'm coming from before someone with 3 years here calls me a newb. Do we even do this anymore? OK, before that guy who got his 1st new Jeep 4 years ago and sank $20k in it and been to 3 trails.

As of this post trip Journals and Reports account for 3,344 messages. This topic involvement is dwarfed by tech section, builds, and basically "what tires can I fit without a lift" topics. Not only here but FB pages. In fact, under this General discussion there are two subjects threads. One is what did you do TO, with 1293 pages and WITH 53 pages. We have the most trail capable 4x4 ever made in history being sold right now, but seems the almost sole discussion is who has what trim and what other crap can you buy for your Jeep.

I see some of the most well built off road Jeeps with the best graphics.. with an impeccable paint and finish. I swear I know a guy with a 99 Suzuki Vitara that has seen more trail use in a month then that a built $110k JT.

I've had my JT for 10 days. And yeah, I've modded a bit. It's a Sport trim. Did 285/70 (33's), knock of rubi bumper, 1.5 level spacers, take off rub rails and that's it until I get the next thing. The day after I got my JT we had to go to TJ, drop off BIL ATV in SD, and other things, Tooled around San Diego a bit and drove back to AZ. Yeah, I realize its not a trip report to Imogene Pass, but that's next. Have you driven in Mexico? A Jeep is made for Mexico no question about that. Also plan to take local trails. Nothing crazy, yet. I also want to take my Jeep to Alaska since I'm familiar with the road, summer and winter.

And to also say, Jeeps aren't the only ones. Name any brand. Seems like only Adventure bikers are the ones bragging where they've been. Guns too. It's all about some crap they put on and not about a course, range report, or hunt.

So how about we add some Arizona pin striping and hear about getting a flat or stuck somewhere more than hearing about who has the best trim level, or the 1 millionth will 35 fit... We have the most versatile vehicle ever made in production. So let's hear more on these adventures and where you've been. Who cares if its bone stock or the most mods.

It's all about choices. Some people like to feed off of other people's ideas or just check out what people are doing..... in my case I've received a lot of valuable advice.... that has saved me from making some costly mistakes and because yes this is my first Jeep and it took me 52 years to get it. So I personally like showing and sharing with like people. The people who make the type of post you spoke of are probably same types that like to go to car shows or Jeep events. With that said, I also love to read about other people's adventures, mainly because I am not able to go on as many as I would like and for the same reasons I like checking out the next guys wheel setup. We are all here for different reasons, and I think the forum is big and diverse enough for all of them

I've been jeeping for a LONG time. I use this forum to help me and to maybe help others about modifications I want to make to my JT. I enjoy reading about trips members make too.
One stop shopping here at the Gladiator forum!

I have always wondered about this. Those overlanding youtube channels sure do make their trips look like a whole lot of fun. Though, I can't imagine the whole filming process to be much fun, especially the ones on solo trips. Setting up and breaking down over, and over, and over, and over, and over. Seems like to make any real consistent progress, you'd need a full camera crew just to follow you and run ahead of you!

My FJ Cruiser and Gladiator keeping making nasty faces at each other in the garage. I had to separate them 4 feet to keep the fighting down :) LMAO
Better make it 6 feet or the WHO might come after you... ha ha

Not sure if it's their vanity or a labor of love but I for one enjoy the effort that others put into their documentation.

Too many other tech posts swamp out search feature. We have one thread in GD and one Section for trips, runs, trials, and stuff like that. I looked up Rubicon Trail, well just guess what this came up with.? Lots of Gladiator Rubicon discussions. I'm sure some have brought it up but really to find it becomes a task in its own.
I'm with you here, either I really suck at it or the search engines is really bogged down... I never can find anything.... which makes me guilty of posting some of the questions over and over....

Don't feel like reading 7 pages of needlessness. So, if y'all said this already, I apologize. I post in the "WHEEL" thread when I go wheeling, which i think is what op wants???? I post in the "WITH" thread when I go do something that imo may interest someone, which i also think is what op wants. All this time I've been doing it wrong???:headbang:
