Yea city daily work beater they are pretty good for.
Do you or anyone you know legitimately commute 125+ miles each way on a daily basis? Sounds miserable to me and you're giving away 4+ hours a day. Move or find a different job.

In one of these EV threads there was a guy going on about his f150 having 600 miles of range? Nobody is driving 600 straight miles without a stop. You'd have to be dehydrated as hell and have an iron ass. Our AZ property is 600 miles from our house. 6-10 times a year we make that drive (which means 12-20 600 mile drives) and never once have I not had to pee by the time the Jeep needed gas... and they both have a 240 mile range at freeway speeds. Every trip is about the same. 2x20+ minute gas/restroom/ beverage/dog park stops and one 40ish minute similar stop plus food. Absolutely doable in any EV with a 300 mile range. The recons 250 mile range is a little low for my use but our use is on the much more frequent long drives than 99% of people. I'd have to add a few more panels to our off grid property, but every one of our normal fuel stops have EV chargers. Funny Stan mentioned long commutes, how damn long are people driving to work? 125+ miles each way? You don't need a commuter you need to move or find a new job.
Here in Houston, it's not uncommon for someone to drive 100miles one way. The tri-city triangle (Houston, San-Antonio, dallas) have massively spread out burbs, So it's not uncommon for someone to live way out in some burbs and drive into town for work. Granted most of the guys i know who do it, is more in the 50-60 miles range one way. Some might live in Galveston and work in houston, that kind of thing.

Father-in-law was an off shore welder and his "drive" to work was to Louisiana and back every two weeks. lol granted it's all flat here and mostly at sea-level so ICE/Electric get their best.

LOL but then a lot of guys driving trucks n stuff and don't give a dang about gas mileage with our gas being so cheap. So electrics do sell here, we see a lot of Teslas around Houston, but then you also see a lot of lifted gladiators on 40s lol

Odd, as I've got prostate issues, and my wife says "you are always drinking my tea and going to the bathroom" and yet - yeah, I can go through a tank of gas and not have to pee. I keep drinks handy in the vehicle so no dehydration (besides, not everything is an AZ desert).
When we drove my wife's JLU to FL and back, I could easily go without stopping until we needed gas at about 250-300 miles.
Sitting and driving I don't have to go nearly as often as when physically active.
We drove mostly straight through - once we hit the road, my wife stops for nothing, except gas.

Not that far, but I worked with a guy who drove about 70 miles each way to work.
That's kind of a dumb statement - move (when your house is paid for and you have a family in school and all, and wife has a job where you live)
or find a different job - yeah, when you are making money as an engineer in a solid multi-national company?
Really? That's the solution? You make things sound so simple, and always compare to your own place and situation. There's a whole other world out there full of people who have great jobs they love, good pay and benefits, but to do it, must drive a ways. Some don't want to live in a big city and prefer the more rural life. Since you own multiple properties and can afford them and all that driving, I'd think you'd understand - I mean - look at your drives, then tell someone else to move?

Get real - a lot of people have little choice. Yes, there are quite a few people who do commute well over 60 miles a day, hours on the road.

That's what I'm saying though, 250-300 miles is normal. The "my F150 will go 600 miles on a tank"? Who cares because my bladder won't go much past 300. If I'm stopping to pee anyway I'm getting gas, taking the dogs pee, and getting a cold beverage or snack. That's enough time to add a couple hundred miles to an EV with modern fast chargers. 600 miles of range is useless to normal people even on roadtrips regardless of fuel source.

60-70 miles is common and normal and doable in any EV on the market. 125+ is excessive and if you factor in your unpaid 4-5 hours a day, wear and tear on a vehicle and gas/fuel of any type you better be making 2x what you could make closer to home or you really aren't making all that much extra. Short term sure. A career like that? I stand by my statement you should move or find another job. People act like you can't sell a paid for house?

I drove an R1T from Novi to DC for a press event and had to charge it a whole one time en route, took 40 minutes, was faster than my dinner.
Some of the anti EV guys believe they need 1k miles of range to be considered? I've driven 1k miles in a day on a roadtrip. You look forward to that 1hr meal break for hours. If you want to drive 1k miles without stopping there's something wrong with you (or you're full of it and never have or will drive more than 400 miles without a break like normal humans).

This is our routine as well. Our Mountain home is about 4 hours away and about half way there we stop, take a leak, get a snack and by the time we are done the Tesla is charged up and easily gets us there. It really doesn’t impact the length of the trip at all.

We drive the Blazer to SF ( 515 miles ) a couple times a year. Stress and hassle free.... and only about $125 in charging round trip as we driveway charge at each end for free.

The people who complain about road trips tend to be the same ones who won't drive to the next town for anything.

In my small town, most of the residents will simply go without or pay more for whatever than drive 45 minutes each way to the larger cities of Grand Rapids or Lansing.

250 miles and I want to stretch my legs 😂

I wouldn't road trip an EV but it's mostly because an EV's that I'd prefer to own would be a sedan and it just works out that most of my road trips I either want my truck because I'm exploring off the beaten path, or I'm loaded to the moon with camping gear or other junk.

But TBH an EV for my commute would be sick. If I didn't have to stop for gas and I could just limit my upcoming 80 mile round trip commute to just a grocery store stop - I wouldn't complain 😂 Gas station such a useless stop for me. I don't go in and buy snacks or coffee, or anything. Half the gas stations I stop at I don't know what they look like inside lol.

I have a Slate on pre-order, because I genuinely need a truck often for crap like this, but I'm not willing to spend what Ford and GM want for their trucks.

Doesn't Ford have a $30k EV truck coming?
