11.5 vs 12.5 Wide Tires

I ran 33x10.5s BFG KO's on my Tj for a long time and never had any issues off roading. They performed really well in the snow in the PNW. Later switched to 33x12.5 KM2's and while they perform great in the mud and rocks are terrible in snow and ice.

I live in Northern Nevada, so we don't get a ton of rain. They've held up well to all the Sierra snow I've thrown at them though! I'll have to check out that Tire Rack review. I took a bit of a chance on these tires and bought them right as they came out, so there wasn't a ton of reviews at the time. So far they've held up to everything I've thrown at them though.

As an aside, if I wanted to get really spendy, I'd go with the BFG KO2's in 34x10.5. But I was quoted almost $400 a tire so I went with the Toyo's instead.

It really is a shame that the 34x10.5 BFG KO2s are so small. Some reports over on wranglerforum show them actually smaller in diameter than the 255/80R17 KM2s.

35x11.5x17 and keeping the stock rims.

I assume I know the answer to this for obvious reasons, but are there any MT or hybrid tires that are 3 peak rated?

I know the Toyo ATIIIs are 3pmsf rated, I do not believe there are any MTs that are 3pmsf rated.

Running 35x12.5x17 toyo at3 E-range. I love them! They poke but that’s mostly due to my -12mm offset rims. Sorry, don’t have any pics showing poke. I mean, an extra inch would mean more surface area. To be honest, i have to air down to about 30psi to get full surface contact on the tires but at that psi, they ride smooth to me. Probably not as smooth as C-range but to my perception, it’s smooth.

Looks amazing! I just bought Fuel Beast 17x9's and some 33x12.5's. I cannot wait to mount them after seeing yours.

I'm running 37 12.5 17 Kanati Trail hogs on mine with stock wheels and they did great the last two weeks in the snow we got here. Did great on ice as well and in the rain. I ran 315 70 17 BFG KO2s before I ran the 37's and had no issue with those either. I like bigger beefier tire personally and love the stock wheels, but I will probably be switching them out soon.

They are quiet compared to some others I've ran. They are equal in road noise to a BFG KO2 which is about the quietest A/T you can buy. I was running KO2s in a 35 before the Kanati's. Actually my last 5 sets of tires going back to my JKU we're KO2s. If it means anything, I'll be buying the Kanati's again when these wear out. I'm a fan now for sure.

I can listen to the radio on 12 comfortably at 70mph. Wish they made them in a 38. They make a 39 but I don't want to run another M/T on anything that's a daily

I have Goodyear 35X12.50 R17 E2 Wrangler Ultraterrains (sold by Discount only), made in Texas. I had them in pretty deep snow a couple weeks ago at 10,000 feet on Mt Taylor and they did not slip a bit. I'll be back there (with more snow) Friday to cut our Christmas tree (Colorado blue spruce). It did well during the monsoon in deep rain (2WD) on city street as well. They are E series and like Chad I went down to 33 psi (summer), and that works well. I had the same tires, but 31s on my Tacoma and they worked great for that truck as well. That's my $0.2.

That's good to hear I don't use my Ram 2500 for off roading so I have not tested them there but they are quiet and smooth on road.

If your passengers comfort is a priority, I might try the 11.5 in a C rating. I love my 35x12.5 BFG ATs but they do seem the through left and right body roll a little and the E rating was not needed.. Another 10-15K miles and I will need to decide. If you can't do both 11.5 and C, think about doing one of them.
