Currently chasing a parasitic drain (I think), and sensitive to battery reading at the moment.

- Vehicle is a 2021 JTRD
- Battery is a 1 month old Odyssey
- Aux has been removed

Under load, I'm seeing high 12's which I've read is normal for a charged battery:

Coasting though, the battery (charge?) spikes:

Is this normal?

Thanks!

I’m cruising right now at 14.6 and never go under 14. Ever. Been like this for almost a whole year (since I bought it). What’s the issue?

I also deleted my aux battery a few months after purchase.

I think it is normal. "Coasting" for all intents is no throttle and deceleration and the charging system will spike over this.

So also interesting. The PDF above talks about a generator (not an alternator). Is this a diesel only thing?

Could be for the e-torque engines

I had this happen to me last year over my drive to Utah from Michigan. I had almost the same question here, and it was explained to me that this is normal. I also drive a 21 JTR. Basically after driving for a while, the battery gets full of charge, and the voltage needed to keep everything up and running drops. Im sure its in my post history if you want to dig in there.

The behavior I experienced was starting up it was normal 14.x, then after a while on the road, it would drop to 12.x. This would happen every time I stopped and started driving.

When you say coasting are you saying no brake or some brake ?

I am in the same exact situation as you describe. I'm also with a 1 month old Odyssey and aux bypassed. My readings are identical to yours with the difference being I have the 3.6. Since my voltage has stabilized at these readings it has caused my fog lights to act crazy. When the voltage is higher (after cold start) both lights will work as normal. As the voltage stabilizes around 12.9 my left one will come on and immediately goes back off. This started a week after the battery change and has bugged me for the past month.

Yes, it's normal.
Atleast on my 22 JTRD on original batteries.
