12 volt compressor in bed?

I have a 12 volt dc w/ alligator clips air compressor that I like other than having to pop the hood and connect it to the battery in order to use it.

Would there be something I can plug into the 110v outlet in the bed in order to leave the air compressor there?

No. The 12 volt DC compressor will not operate from the 110 volt AC outlet.

Get a jump starter box and use that to power the air compressor. It also makes it easier to move around from wheel to wheel. I got one of these for $60 during one of the holiday sales.

Are you trying to make it somewhat permanent in the bed?

Permanent in the sense I would ratchet strap in place during off road trips. It's a Puma 2 gallon air compressor I connect a 4 tire hose up to. At the moment I carry to the front and set it on the engine and connect with gator clips to the battery. I may look into longer wires so I can leave it on the ground.

In the past, I've run an anderson powerpole from the battery to the bed. Snipped the alligator clips on the compressor and added powerpole connectors to both the snipped wires coming from the compressor and the snipped alligator clips.

That way, I could either plug it in or make it portable again.

This is pretty much the exact plan I have for my portable Viair (at some point). A connection up front and at the rear so that I can utilize those connections on my truck or re-connect the alligator clips for use anywhere else.

I'd like to use flanged Deutsch connectors on the truck for a clean look with an opposing cap attached with a small tether to seal it up when not in use. Need to pull my compressor back out and see what the wire size was....

Going a different direction, but there was a thread here where the guy used a 120v Harbor Fright small air compressor plugged into the AC outlet in bed. There was a lot of people saying it would not carry the load , but his wattage was much lower then 400watts avalible. Search function is fun sometimes, sometimes not…..Jack
