There's no pressure in a crankcase. It's vented into the intake.Completely remove the dipstick, fill cap, and oil filter first. This should resolve the water gun effect when you remove the drain plug.
I do my own tire rotations also for the same reason I do my own oil changes, so I know it is done right. For those of you that change own oil, do you do tire rotation yourself as well?
Its a big reason I dont do my own oil, so I can have tires rotated at same time.
Input please.
Thanks, Hootbro, figured as much. I am just not in shape to lift these large tires any more, too many years of abusing my back!.I do my own tire rotations also for the same reason I do my own oil changes, so I know it is done right.
Understandable that not everybody has the luxury of being able to do their own stuff. Just have to be sure whomever is doing it you trust and stay on top of it.Thanks, Hootbro, figured as much. I am just not in shape to lift these large tires any more, too many years of abusing my back!.
Yes I do my own tire rotations , oil changes brake jobs, engine work , paint work, you name it I do have help from time to time. Lots of guys on here can help ya get anything accomplished. Master techs on here ( I myself am a self-proclaimed advanced shadetree mechanicFor those of you that change own oil, do you do tire rotation yourself as well?

I’ve done like 20 oil changes on mine with the fumoto valve. Makes it a breeze. Even with that, I make sure the oil is warm as you did, put the hose into an empty 5qt, and open the valve. I don’t tough the dipstick. I do remove the fill cap after it starts draining. When there is over 4 quarts drained, I do the filter while it’s draining out the last little bits. I don’t shut the valve until the new filter is in. Then 5 new quarts go in.Update:
I'm not completely caving on my original reply, but there is a consensus on removing the drain plug first. Another suggestion is to install a Fumoto drain valve with the longer nipple.

If you’re not off roading it, nothing will get near it. If you are, an engine skid plate alleviates that. I have a fumoto valve on my wife’s Volvo.I love the idea but seems like it wants to catch on something. I sound paranoid : )
With the skid plates and all - you really need that thing, and the tube to guide the oil out.I’ve done like 20 oil changes on mine with the fumoto valve. Makes it a breeze. The previous skid design had a huge open oval. I just wanted more coverage and a stronger skid. So I put UHMW on the whole thing and drilled a hole angled towards the rear. 9/16” if I remember right. With the skid plates and all - you really need that thing, and the tube to guide the oil out.
I have my oil changed for the same reason as you, tire rotation at the same time. My back is getting too bad to do the tires anymore. I mark things so I can keep everyone honest, I have caught 2 different Toyota Dealerships in the past not doing everything they were supposed to do. It’s terrible when we have to be worried about a simple oil change and tire rotation service. For those of you that change own oil, do you do tire rotation yourself as well?

I absolutely do. Five way rotation only requires one jack and only need to lift the tires 1/2” off the ground. For those of you that change own oil, do you do tire rotation yourself as well?
