I couldn't really find anything, but I was wondering if anyone that normally has a one tow hook rear bumper (overland, Willys, Sport) Ever replaced their rear bumper with one that has two openings for tow hooks?

I have an overland and I replaced the front bumper with the three piece Rubicon steel Mopar bumper a while back. However, recently got a little damage to my plastic rear bumper, which has one to hook accordingly. Since I am looking to replace it, I figured if I could, I might as well upgrade the rear bumper to a steel bumper as well However, they have two openings each and I have one so I was wondering does that mean I have obtain another tow hook and what all is involved if that is the case I have not removed the bumper to really look around. I imagine it would probably look goofy having two openings, but only running one tow hook.

This is all in the event I can just simply find my same exact style stock plastic rear bumper.

The rear tow hooks are all the same, there is no left or right the only difference is the color. On my old Overland I added the second hook. The frame has the threaded holes for it.

yes I painted the hooks silver.

Appreciate the replies this helps. But specifically stating the frame has the holes for it. I wasn't aware nor have I taken it off before.

So I'll look to either source and additional "black" tow hook if I score a rubicon bumper. If not I'll just look for another single hook plastic one like I have currently.

Thanks all!

I added a second hook after my first bumper got smashed on my overland and I picked up a like new OEM one on FB. I then had two hooks and so just had to cut a hole in the other side of the new one to put on the second hook.
Having a second hook is extremely useful for making bridles, etc. I highly recommend this simple and cheap mod.

Its a 30 min modification. Easy Peasy for the 2nd hook.

I bought the new plastic insert, but decided it was quicker and easier just to cut the hole out vs tearing the whole bumper inner apart. So I never used it,

Well whatever I do will be based off what new bumper I acquire. This def helps though. In the event, I get a Rubicon bumper. I will just add an additional hook otherwise I will just replace the one I have and stay with the single hook, but I won't need to be doing any bumper modifications nonetheless because the new bumper is what I need.

this was the first mod my truck got. You want to source a passenger plastic trim opening from a Mojave. This is VERY important. If you get the trim off a rubicon it won’t fit. The steel bumper has slightly different openings.

remove your rear bumper (4 bolts, two pigtails) and then replace the previously mentioned trim. (It slides right over the tow hook)

Bolt your tow hook in on the passenger side.

Reinstall bumper.

Proceed to look awesome.

Just realized you specifically asked about replacing with steel, my bad. Same process just without the trim swap. So even easier!

Yeah figured might as well look into a steel one if I need to replace the bumper all together. However whatever new bumper I can acquire even if it's the same single hook I'll go with it. Just more so wanted to know what the process was in the event I do need two hooks.
