I'm not certain....they haven't said one way or the other as far as I know
It's been said many times that the 6 speed can't handle the torque of the 3.0, so they will not offer a manual option with the diesel.

What kills me is that there is obviously something available. They were able to “beef up“ the eight speed automatic to accommodate the diesel. They have a six speed manual that FCA uses with the Cummins which is far much more torquey than the VM Motori. I wish they would just make it happen.

It's a different category and fitment.

Not intending to flame here, just my observations.

Stands to reason the Cummins is mated to a BF truck transmission. The JL & JT are mid sized, so likely don't have room for such a tranny. Seems to me that Tremec makes one of the right size factor, and is also compatible with a transfer case, but now you're getting into a very low take rate, so the economy of scale dies. We are a loud minority of those wanting the manual, but it won't help, unfortunately. If it's any consolation, I hear the 850RE is a very good transmission.

Yep its more the low % of buyers. They said say in general across all cars the manual transmission rate is less then 3% of all cars sold. I saw a figure and somewhere (cant find it any more) and I remember it being under 10% for the Wrangler.

Thanks for the update! Exciting to see more details.

Is the ZF 8HP75 transmission still going to be mated with the diesel? I only see the 850RE transmission mentioned.

I understand the low percentage, but on something that is going to be relatively high volume, low percentages still mean hi raw numbers. I hereby sweeten the deal by stating I will buy several of them if they would just make the darn things.

This is all very true as is if there is a will there is a way my guess will be within the first 2 years we will see a build of someone taking a manual building it up and putting it in the diesel or vise versa someone pulling a gas out and dropping diesel in ether build wont be cheep but cool to read about

“Sliding” doesn’t necessarily mean 1-piece. TBD...
True ... but I based that off the (3) PC Hardtop as if you think about it, it will be the two panels above the driver and passanger and then the back part similar to the current JL top. I guess it really spends on which direction the sliding of the glass goes. If it slides down or to the side.

I hope they're meaning a full power retractable rear window that slides into a compartment behind the rear seat and then the hard top can be removed sans window. But sliding is just an odd way of putting it. To me a sliding rear window is generally the traditional "beer window." So I don't know. We haven't seen anything like that on the mules.
