To get to the turbo, because of where it is, the standard way, the book way, is to lift the cab off the chassis. That makes the turbo accessible. It is not as bad as it sounds, they use the same lift you would use to lift the whole vehicle in the air to lift the cab off the chassis. Even with all that they should be able to do it in a day or so.

I have it extensively kitted, inside and out. I guess I’ll find out - I have that code.

it’s out of regular warranty but I have the factory extended warranty. So it should only cost me $100. Fingers crossed.

It falls under the 5 year 100k mile powertrain warranty. But most places will charge you the extra labor if they have to remove any wiring, accessories, etc. to lift the cab off. I personally don't want them messing with my wiring, so I pulled anything that would cause issues with lifting the cab off.

I think it reset since the check engine light is out, drove 500 miles on this trip and it happened on the beginning part of the trip.

So does a failed turbo actuator, P00AF code, automatically trigger the other codes the OP described? Is the ECM programmed to do this?

If not, wouldn’t this more likely be the wire harness previously mentioned?

I went through this in the first year of ownership. I was checking the codes each time it went into limp mode. Not consistent. Not tied to each other. The only consistent thing was the wire harness and what it attached too.
I wrapped the harness with heat shield, plus other items…. Haven’t had a derate/limp mode problem since. No multiple code events.
As too why now. Everything degrades over time.

The consensus is, if your turbo is bad, replacing solves the problem. It does appear to be a known problem, but it does not appear to be a re-occurring problem. People don't seem to have this issue more than once, generally.

Well it’s P00AF I’m going to try and take my jeep into my dealer who in the past has been of no help. Let’s see what they will do.
