The Rubicon diesel bros seem to be dealing with a suspension not matched correctly to the weight of the truck. This causes bottoming out on minor bumps. Mopar lift "fixes" it, probably the longer travel. Rumors are 2022 resolves but is yet to be seen.

I will definitely be installing new suspension and lift with 37 tires

For the up charge for diesel I’d expect a near flawless and proven build, but it seems that there has been a number of reported issues with the diesel. So, gas seems more proven and reliable To me.

It's a bit like asking if you should buy a truck or an SUV, you have to decide what will work best for your needs. I have a diesel on order, for me, I was tired of running higher RPM's when towing and after driving one I know it will put a smile on my face every time. I could never clearly justify one or the other, they both can do "the job" so it came down to what do I want.

Diesel. I would've passed on the JT if there was not a diesel option. Having an underwhelming 3.6 gas motor in a heavy Jeep just does not make sense. The diesel power plant just never seems to lack GRUNT. Don't buy the JT for all out speed. It's all about the low end grunt.

As for the issues (bottoming out, derate) .... the '21 is a NEW, 1st year with a new gen 3.0 diesel. There are going to be some early adopter issues. I had a mopar lift placed at delivery (no bottoming issues). My JTRD has never derated, but then I don't tow with it. And I live in HOT Arizona.

DEF is a non-issue. Come on. It's cheap. Diesels get better mpg.

I love this Jeep. I plan on keeping it for a very long time. I purchased an extended warranty for peace of mind. ?

Go DIESEL.
