Someone on the JL forum claiming an inside source is saying the announcement this afternoon is just for the Grand Cherokee 4xe
this is the most likely scenario.

JT line will likely only see the minor tweaks, already hypothesized here.

I’d love to see chief as a paint option. Or a lighter version of sting grey

4xe Wrangler battery warranty is 100K miles. I wonder what a 4xe JT would be worth with 101K miles on it? ? Is it junk at that point, or is it designed to throw a ~$2500 battery in it & keep rolling?
Aren't Prius batteries super cheap to replace now? At my rate of mileage accumulation, by the time I make it to 100K+1, I'd bet a cheaper better battery exists. I'd still rather have a Hemi.

Yeah, yeah I saw the counter. Prepare yourselves for a big nothing-burger. The thing is likely just for the Wrangler.
Jeep prove me wrong.
Looks like I was pretty close :bandit:
Still, I will be jazzed if we can get new colors for the JT ?

...kudos to the Texas Auto Show shippers!
What happened with Texas Auto Show shippers?

I'm cheering for a 392 Hemi JT, because I still don't think a 4xe JT is practical from a payload/towing standpoint. It would be a useless pickup truck, unless they have a magic wand and somehow get 7,000+ lbs. GVWR doable in a midsize chassis.
It has more power, so any reduction wouldn't be coming from that side, just weight. a #5K tow rating would seem to make sense assuming the weight of the additional kit is at or under a ton and doesn't add too much of a cooling restriction. That would be essentially what you get with either of the top trims, so I doubt it would be a very meaningful hit for most people. Those top trims are reduced due to suspension, not weight, so they'd likely be able to compensate and remain otherwise unchanged. The only concern I can think of is lift/load springs for the heavier load should the take rate not be high enough to justify the aftermarket's efforts.

That the... I don't know what you call an instagram post... gram(?) might be referring to any of the other models in the Jeep lineup certainly can't be ignored. In my mind, a Jeep is a body on frame truck with solid axles, and the rest just slips through the filter undetected. Same as any other beige Honda or Subaru. What in the lineup is still pending MY22 details?

Its has to be option 2, right? They have to be able to replace the battery (and warranty the new battery).

When I saw the screengrab I had to go check for myself just because it seems so on the friggin nose for JL/JT complaints: a new color is not enough right now. They gotta do more. The only downside I see right now is that maybe it will be a purely JL announcement, but that doesn't make sense either.

My expectations, in order of likelihood:

Earl Gray
(some other color)
Uconnect 5
35" tire option (JT)
4Xe (JT)
Wireless charging spot/pad
Larger Uconnect screen option
More off-road cameras or sensors
Power sliding rear window
Interior overhaul
Hemi

Offhand comment I just heard on a TFL vid said they are hearing hybrid for the JT.
I'm sure some guys would be jazzed for that -

@16:40 here EXCLUSIVE: Here Are The 2023 Ford Ranger AND Chevy Colorado Before You're Supposed To See Them! - YouTube

Totally jazzed. 370 hp and the same torque at the 392. With decent fuel economy. Sign me up!!

Note that it is not necessary to ever plug in a plug in hybrid to get the performance benefits. Though you will get better fuel economy if you plug it in.

Google confirms you're right, but the articles also say the tax credit can be factored into the lease if the manufacturer chooses to do so, and they certainly have been with the Wrangler 4xe.
Correct. The $7500 is applied as a "capitalized cost reduction" payment. In other words its an extra down payment on the lease.

An interior overhaul is a bit steep for an off year, but not completely unheard of. If they do the UConnect5 upgrade as expected, a wireless charge pad is a pretty badly needed thing, so it would make sense. Jeep was on here a few days back polling for center console opinions though, and that's really much too recent to see any results in production UNLESS it was purely to figure out marketing angles. As in, it's already done, and they're just trying to figure out how to spin it to maximize impact.

35"s on a test mule have been seen, and there's really very little required to make it happen. This is high on my list.

Colors are fine. I'd like a clear coat blue. I'm not a huge color person though, and will pick whatever clear coat paint color (as in not a shade of gray) looks best at the time. Easier to repair down the road than metallics and pearls.

4Xe is much MUCH more likely than the V8. There's the photo from a while back, Stellantis has said the entire lineup will be electrified by some point in the not too distant future, etc. It's GOING to happen, that's just a question of when.

I don't see the power sliding rear window happening to be honest. At least not for MY22. It's no impossible to do something like that with a removable top in the slightest, but that would be a pretty significant change in tooling and production for an off year.

Can someone explain to me the thrill of 4xe, unless your just super into saving the earth and like electric vehicles? What are the other pros? I personally like my standard engines.

That would be unfortunate.
I grabbed it and shared it here with the idea it would at minimum be fore JLs as that is what the color announcement was for.
