I wanted to post my impression of GDE support and results of the tune I installed. I did lots of research on tunes and deletes prior to choosing a mod. I was looking primarily for reliability and fuel economy improvements with added power as a secondary bonus.
I chose GDE hot tune with the transmission tune. I purchased a PCU from Jeep and had the dealer clone it. I asked the dealer to leave the new PCU installed. They Did Not. I sent the new PCU to GDE. When I got it back, I installed it. The dealer had not installed the fuel injector trim codes. I contacted GDE. They told me exactly what the issue was. Btw, GDE was emailing with me until 11:00 PM. I was very impressed with their support.
I had the dealer load the trim codes.
When I went to perform the tune, I had issues loading it. I contacted GDE. They helped me work through the issue. Once we figured out the problem, the loading went smoothly.
I can’t say enough great things about GDE. I am extremely impressed with their knowledge and customer support.
Now for the tune:
1. The added power is very noticeable.
2. The transmission shifting is greatly improved. Shifting into 7th and 8th gear is much sooner.
3. The transmission holds higher gears better.
4. Fuel economy improvement is amazing. I have run three tanks through it since installing the tune. I am averaging about 28 MPG mixed driving. I am able to get over 520 miles on a tank.
5. When the truck is cold, it wants to hold lower gears longer. Not terrible, but I do shift manually sometimes.
6. I received my first REGEN message yesterday. That is a great bonus. I would have parked 2 miles into it if I hadn’t gotten the message. After 13 miles of driving, I received a message of completion.
