Is it normal for the 3.6 on my 2023 JT to tick. I hear ticking from the engine when I'm sitting at a light with the windows down. My old 2012 Liberty had a 3.7 and they ticked when at idle. JT has only 2k on it. Other than that , no problems at all. Truck is a beast on the beach. I never had a truck ride as smooth as this truck over ruts in the sand. I do get a click from the front end when I first take off in the morning , then no noise after that. I'll get them both checked next oil change in 5 K. I love this truck.

Audible ticks are subjective. They do have an inherent ticking sound, but some develop much worse conditions due to issues with cam rollers.
Without a CEL (check engine light), the only way to tell for sure if there's a problem is do a visual inspection.
A second best practice is to have an analysis done of the oil when you change it. The lab will flag any higher than normal levels of certain metals, which could indicate that premature wear is taking place.

Could it happen at 2k miles?

Mine has a definite ticking sound, but I can only hear it when the hood is up. I discovered it when I did a oil change a couple days ago. It has just over 3k miles and is very quiet with the hood down.

Then you're good. The ticking that is of concern is when you can hear the ticking noise with the hood closed. My check engine light would come on over 5,000 RPM.

Yeah, I have no lights, mine is quite with the hood down, I only hear it when I'm next to another car at a light. It sounds about what my old 3.7 sounded like, nothing loud. I was next to another JT at a parking lot, it sounded the same. Nothing loud, you really have to be listening for it. Thanks all.

I tried to rev my engine to 5,000 rpm in truck in park. Engine would only tach up to 3,000 rpm, but when I hit the passing gear the truck runs like a scalded dog on the highway. Then she tachs up the rpm.

Correct. My check engine light would come on in fourth gear over five to 6,000 RPM. Try not to rev your engine that high and park.

So, here's what mine does: On startup, I get the normal 3-5 second clatter until the filter pressures up, it goes into warm up idle for about 1-2 minutes, drops down to around 600-900 rpm, depending on ambient temperature, then starts ticking like there's a lifter failure for about 1 minute, then stops. If I bring rpm up, ticking subsides a little. Other than that, it clatters, squeaks, hisses, squeals, grinds and whistles. Especially when I step on the brake or put it in gear. That's in addition to the engine randomly cutting out, like the fire got snuffed. I don't know what's wrong with piece of shit, but there's quite a few people at Jeep that need their asses handed to them.

So long as the ticking is not ramping up when giving it throttle and sounding like a bag of marbles, you are fine and is more than likely just fuel injector noise. Like @Lunentucker mentioned, it is a good practice to have an occasional oil sample done to see where the wear metals are trending. If you have excessive valvetrain wear, the iron values will flag.
