I plan on going with a level kit and would love to add 35's if possible. I am in FL and it won't see much of the hills until we eventually take it on a trip.

My biggest concern is burning out the transmission with the 35's and responses I find online are usually subjective to geographic location.

Are you guys finding all 8 gears when switching to 35's with 3.73 ratio?
I also live in Florida. I have a Willys with 3.73 gears and auto tranny. I run Nitto Ridge Grappler (285/70/17) which weigh 59 lb. mated with the stock Willys wheel which are pretty light when compared to aftermarket. I often struggle to find 8th gear when driving on the interstate. I hope this helps in your decision making.

I've had 4:10 gears and still have 4:10 gears. I still get into all my gears on 37's with no problem. Mines a Max Tow for reference. I will not regear unless I decide to go to bigger tires. I saw around 18.7 average mpgs on BFG KO2 35's

Here some YouTube clips of mine

35's

37's

Speedo was set dead on for both using JScan and both had pretty much the same setup other than tire size. The jeep looks like this

That’s pretty awesome!
I have a max tow and 4:10 gears with 35’s. Programmed with a Tazer and only average 14.6 mpg. Hardly ever see 7th gear.

Maybe your 35's are heavier than my 37's or driving habits as well. I put a lot of thought in bumpers and winch to try to reduce weight and wind drag on mine. One of the reasons I went with full length bumper with high clearance was to reduce the gap between the bumper and the fenders. Wind getting up inside your fenders causes a ton of wind drag and reduces the trucks performance. That's one of the reasons some of the max tows came with the air dams leading from the bumper to the fender to help with mpg's. When I removed mine I noticed almost a 1.5mpg loss and on 35's. When I out the steel full width bumper on and closed that gap back mostly, I gained most of it back. I have never saw MPGs under 15.4 even towing 5,000lbs of rock 50 miles on 37's. 14.6 seems pretty low on 35's but you may be a more aggressive driving than I am. I'm in not hurry and keep it within 5 miles of the speed limit most of the time.

I’m sure my stubby bumper didn’t help me at all! But as far as driving habits I’m the same. Only 5mph over. I live in northern NY and the roads I drive aren’t any where near flat. I traded my 3/4 ton RAM with the 6.4L thinking I was going to get better mileage. Hahaha man was I wrong.

Piedmont/Foothills area of NC for me. I'm about a hour and half from the smoky mountains. It's not flat here either.

You would be surprised at the amount of mpg's that can be lost due to wind drag especially wind getting up inside those fenders. It's been a trend on here that I've notice that the jeeps getting the worse mpg's have added stubby bumpers or removed their air dams and added tons of weight to their JTs. Combined that with people who don't use the ESS/Auto stop start system and then before long your around 15 miles to the gallon. Every little bit helps especially with gas prices the way they are now.

I’m wondering if adding inner fender well liners (aluminum/plastic) help.

Not sure, I still have my stock fenders and stock liners. Anything that would push air around the jeep instead of up inside the fender would more than likely help. Closing that gap made a world of difference on mine, especially on real windy days. I don't noticed the lag when driving into the wind nearly as bad. I've had others who have Gladiators and wranglers in mine, most running stubby bumpers or bumpers with no air dams and they have even commented on how much better mine seems.to handle the wind.

I have 3.73s with 37 Mts. My goal was to keep it light. I’m at 98lbs a corner with my wheel and tire setup. With a tazer recalibrated I’m fine with it for now 100%. I’m averaging 17 mpg around my small town in the mountains. 5.13s are in the future.

Those rims look horrible on that color Gladiator! (You know I'm kidding! Right? It was the old school, new cool, retro look that I love. I almost didn't have a choice! Side pic when you get a chance please?"

All 8 gears, only down hill with a tail wind. Or if manually forced into 8th. I'm on 35's, 3.73 gears, around 16-17 mpg. No complaints.

I think it was a 2020 base sport max tow that had them. I don't think the sport s model had them. Not sure after 2020. I didn't like the look so I removed mine and immediately regretted it after about a week of driving it. A noticable difference when driving into the wind and at speeds over 50 mph

What difference did you notice, Overlands don't have them. Thanks.
