Except you don't get a transmission, evidently you can use the 3.6 transmission if you have less than 90k miles? The whole kit shipped for $25k but I like your approach better tcabece!
have you seen thier discovery channel show? I was talking to them about swap, then the show dropped and watched the used car salesman trian wreck! Nope! no way would i take my truck after watching that show.

I think Tyler at Tom's is working on a manual kit.

To answer another question I believe Tom's is now offering DIY kits as well.
Andrew: I'll be out there next week. I'll have to talk to Tyler about. I'd certainly want a manual!! Tim

yeah if you can do the work yourself and save money, thats great! i wish i was that savy. im sure your enjoing your new power.

what exhaust setup do you have? is it too loud?
Wes: I built my own. Still trying to figure the active exhaust out. I used 2x Magnaflow 14009's with 3 in exhaust pipes. Picture attached of the 14009's. I like the sound aggressive outside but good inside. I used a crossover pipe to minimize drone. It's dual exhaust straight out the back with split tips each side. From the bumper it kind of looks like the Wrangler 392 exhaust. Tim

Either way I thought the 850RE that was mated to the 3.6 in our trucks was only rated for up to like 369 ft lbs? Both the 5.7 and 6.4 are beyond that rating. Not really a make or break, well it might break, deal for me just an observation. I have been watching ebay for a few years now and that set up for that price has been pretty consistent. I originally was watching due to wanting to swap in a hemi into my 1989 YJ replacing the 4.2.
Correct the 5.7Hemi cranks out 410Ft Ibs. Of torque at 4,000rpms.
So unless you find someone who can build up the 850RE to withstand closer to 500 or 550ft. Ibs. Of torque the only other option is to go to a 8HP75. Or 8HP90

I had never heard of them until this thread so I did some research and train wreck is an appropriate description! :CWL:

Here's a picture of one of the mufflers welded up. Tim

Muffler-welded-up.webp
Mine from AMW came with 3.5" from both sides and Y into 1-3.5" pipe into a single in an single out 3.5" muffler. The muffler looks like its stainless works. it was kinda loud and raspy, sounded really good, but not for a daily driver and it droned alot between 60 and 75 mph. i installed a borla resonator (40086) after the muffler and it took away that raspiness and bite out of the sound. cruising its sounds asweome, gave it a deeper borla sound, drone is 99% gone. when you accerlate it after 3K rpm it really opens up to the same loudeness as before. the resonator keeps it civilized.

ItDodge: I found it odd that the OEM cats and pipes were 70mm (2.75”)?? Not 3.0” or 2.5”. Just really unusual. 3.5” that’s more than enough flow. I did get the opportunity to drive a 392 Wrangler and the active exhaust is pretty cool! Almost worth getting that muffler and deleting the Gladiator spare tire! I am still trying to get the center stack active exhaust button working. It’s the same location as the ESS button. Which when you do the swap the Gladiator losses ESS and the aux battery! - Tim

So a multiple level fixing of problems. . .ESS, 3.6 cam failures ect. At a severe lightning of the wallet. :like:
Great insight, information and heck of a job. I just need to get back on my Comanche project restoration and upgrades. Simple wiring on it. 😳 no where in this caliber of job.

Dang Great Job you have done. :like::like::like::rock::rock::rock:

have you looked at valvetronic or Bomiz? they come withvlaves but controlled by a keyfob. the button on the dash would be awesome though.

ItDodge: I looked at those and wasn't super impressed with the quality? Just my impression/opinion. I have the OEM active exhaust vacuum solenoid installed and vacuum lines and canister plumbed, all OEM. As a backup I did install the AUX switches (easy to do when the dash is out! LOL) and I can always use one of them to "fire" the solenoid. The "flapper" valve on the one picture of the welded muffler is the OEM "flapper" valve I have both of those installed. - Tim
